The most recent season of Catfish: The TV Show just came to an end, as the season finale of season 7 aired last night on MTV.

Over the past couple of episodes, Nev Schulman has helped people in need with various celebrity guest hosts, including Tallulah Willis, Rashad Jennings, and Elle King — and more.

Will there be a Catfish: The TV Show season 8?

However, MTV hasn’t made any announcements about a potential new season of the show. It’s no secret that the show is a hit with season 7 having a total of 27 episodes, which included special episodes, such as countdowns of the craziest episodes ever.

It’s also hard to determine when season 8 could return. One of the issues with Catfish: The TV Show is that episodes are often scattered throughout the year.

Season 7 began on January 3, 2018, but didn’t end until last night, January 24, 2019.

Who could return for next season of Catfish: The TV Show?

Plus, when Nev had his daughter in 2016, he decided to take paternity leave, leaving Max in charge of the show. A few weeks ago, Nev’s wife Laura gave birth to their second child, a son.

This could indicate that Nev is taking a leave once again, postponing any filming for Catfish: The TV Show with a few months.

In addition, Max Joseph decided it was time to leave the show behind after seven seasons. The past 10 episodes have been without Max and while fans missed him at first, it’s refreshing to have new faces who add different personalities to each case.

If MTV decides to move forward with season 8, fans should expect to see new personalities on the show. It clearly works bringing on different celebrities as co-hosts rather than trying to replace the one and only Max.

Catfish wrapped season 7 last night on MTV with the the season finale.
