Black Lightning wrapped up its second season way back in March and fans have been wondering what will happen in Freeland when season 3 premieres this fall.

Luckily we don’t have too much longer to wait until we start to get some answers. Even better, this season Black Lightning is officially joining the Arrowverse, making the show even more integral to the CW’s DC TV line-up.

When will Black Lightning Season 3 premiere?

When The CW initially announced its fall 2019 schedule, it set Black Lightning’s season 3 bow for October 21. However, the network later moved the premiere up two weeks.

Black Lightning will now premiere on The CW on Monday, October 7 at 9/8c.

Black Lightning’s Cast

Cress Williams will return as the title character, aka Jefferson Pierce, for the new season, along with his heroic family, including Nafessa Williams as Anissa/Thunder, China Anne McClain as Jennifer/Lightning, Christine Adams as Lynn, and James Remar as Gambi.

Damon Gupton will also return as Inspector Henderson as will Marvin “Krondon” Jones III as Tobias White, Jordan Calloway as Khalil, and Bill Duke as Agent Odell.

Season 3’s Story

This season, there looks to be a full-blown war in Freeland, and Black Lightning and his super-powered daughters will be on the front lines.

Although viewers last saw Tobias imprisoned in the Pit, he will somehow find a way out, and it looks like Black Lightning himself could end up imprisoned.

Additionally, Kahlil, who everyone believes is dead, will return. However, according to Digital Spy, he will “come back a little different.”

This return may tie into Agent Odell, who was secretly keeping Khalil’s body in a pod at the end of Season 2. The series teased that Odell will be the big bad of Season 3. Given he knows the secret identities of Black Lightning, Thunder, and Lightning, that could prove to be a big problem for the heroes in the upcoming season.

Joining the Arrowverse

From the start, the people behind Black Lightning have emphasized the show is not part of the Arrowverse. Nonetheless, fans have long hoped to see the characters from the series crossover with those from The CW’s other DC TV series. This season, they’re finally getting their wish.

Black Lightning will appear in the upcoming Arrowverse crossover “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” which will start in December and conclude in January. The character’s role reportedly won’t be significant. Instead, it will be comparable to Batwoman’s role in the previous season’s crossover “Elseworlds.” That means fans can likely expect Black Lightning to appear in only one of the episodes of the five-episode event.
