Ancient Aliens asks: Did aliens wipe out the dinosaurs?

This week on Ancient Aliens: Declassified, was the destruction of the dinosaurs more than a series of unfortunate events and actually an alien plan?

Theories about the demise of the dinosaurs vary a little but the main gist is that a huge asteroid hit Earth near where the Yucatan area of Mexico lies now. Scientists found evidence of a huge crater and geological records show the layers deposited when the huge rock hit the planet. The Chicxulub crater remained hidden for centuries as although it is over 112 miles across, it was buried under layers of newer rock.

Travelling at high speed the huge explosion, tidal waves, blast and fall out spelled difficult times for all life on Earth. Indeed the dinosaurs had already been under pressure from climate change and the most common theory is that rather than being solely responsible for their extinction the asteroid was the final nail in the coffin as it accelerated the climate change drastically.

However, some ancient astronaut theorists believe that aliens may have purposely destroyed the dinosaurs in order to allow the mammals and eventually humans to take their place.
