Alec Baldwin Trumps Louis C.K. on SNL: The best videos

Alec Baldwin stole the show in this skit where he plays both Bill O’Reilly and Donald Trump

A slimmed down Louis C.K. hit the SNL stage last night for his fourth episode, but save for a few of his best moments posted below, the best laughs and segments that stuck with us had no C.K. in them.

C.K. is killing it on Hulu series Horace and Pete and served as executive producer for one of our top pick comedies that debuted last year, Better Things on FX.

But on last night’s SNL his talent was hit and miss. Also, a letdown was the musical act The Chainsmokers Drew Taggart and Alex Pall who performed Paris, the new single from the new album and Break Up Every Night in a forgettable set.

Also, a letdown was the musical act, The Chainsmokers’ Drew Taggart and Alex Pall, who performed Paris, the new single from the new album, and Break Up Every Night in a forgettable set.

The best moments of the show are listed below.

The Opener

Louis took on white privilege, showed us the power of a great pair of distracting eyelashes and the annoying self-importance people have on social media “educating” their followers on topics well beyond their scope.

The C.K. “White privilege” monologue slyly lasers in on how something like a laundry snafu can really become a thing, especially when you forget to give your dirties to the hotel staff:

Thank you, Scott

This is a clever musical short poking a big stick at “those” people, the posters who land bombs on the pages of Facebook in a bid to show they’re part of the “resistance” and plugged into the social movement.

C.K. does a great job showing how posts and tweets in lieu of actual actions is a modern annoyance.

Look for the clever greek chorus of singers with Cecily Strong, Kenan Thompson, and Sasheer Zamata anchoring this segment.

The Lawyer

Weirdly wonderful, this was a hilarious send-up of the power of one man’s legal arguments, and his stunning eyelashes that distract everyone and make the case for his prosecution.

C.K. was perfect in this simply premised effective comedy skit:

Who can argue against a man with those eyelashes?

Birthday Clown

This was another crystallized classic C.K. moment of awkwardness. What happens when a grown man, all alone, wants a clown to entertain him?

Ernie’s (Louis C.K.) 53rd birthday, we see Bobby Moynihan’s clown arrive, take it all in that he is alone, and during his clowning blurts out: “There’s no protocol for whatever this is!” Indeed.

No Spin Zone

Last night’s best skit for many? Alec Baldwin whose spot on Bill O’Reilly was juxtaposed with his classic Donald Trump.

In a segment of the No Spin Zone with O’Reilly and Trump, we see how blatantly awful the two are when they cover for each other and celebrate each other’s very existence:

SNL Pepsi Ad

Another top non-Louis C.K. moment was the taking down of Kendall Jenner and Pepsi’s tone deaf lamentable advert where they co-opt the resistance movement and poke a big stick at the creatives who made it.

Watch as cast member Beck Bennett (the director) calls and discusses the commercial with his sister.

Watch as the director’s face drop as he parrots her remarks: “Sort of tone deaf?”

Cecily Strong bops out of her trailer as the oblivious Jenner. She says on her cell phone: “I stop the police from shooting black people by handing them a Pepsi. I know, it’s cute, right?” Genius.

Ronaldo’s bust

Weekend Update, the hilarious examination of soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo’s bust was well done too:

Saturday Night Live air Saturdays at 11.30/10.30c on NBC.
