The Curse of Civil War Gold
The Curse of Civil War Gold is a treasure-hunting show on History, following the real-life search for $2million of Confederate gold — $140million in today’s money — believed to be lying at the bottom of Lake Michigan.
A spin-off of popular series The Curse of Oak Island, it follows Kevin Dykstra and his team as they attempt to track down the treasure, which it’s believed was pushed off a boxcar into the lake years after being looted from Confederate president Jefferson Davis at the time of his capture and arrest.
The series also features Marty Lagina of Oak Island fame. In the first season Kevin was tasked with convincing Marty his theory had legs in a bid to get him on board and provide him with funding.
Kevin wanted money to buy a bigger boat and to help pay for the huge operation of scanning vast swathes of Lake Michigan by sonar. In a bid to prove his theory to Marty, Kevin travelled to Georgia in an attempt to follow the journey he believed the money took following Jefferson Davis’s arrest up until its supposed final resting place in Lake Michigan.
The first season was set to air over six episodes, and began on March 6, 2018.
