Sam Hunt arrested on DUI charges

Hunt was arrested after he was allegedly found intoxicated and driving the wrong way down an East Nashville road, according to a WIVB 4 report.

The incident occurred on Ellington Parkway near Ben Allen Road. Officers were informed that a car was spotted heading south in the northbound lanes.

As officers showed up in the area, they allegedly found Hunt’s vehicle going the wrong way. Reports also indicate that Hunt was “swerving in and out of his lane.”

That brought about a traffic stop, during which the driver, identified as Sam Hunt, admitted to officers that he had been drinking alcohol “recently.” In addition, the police said he smelled of alcohol and had two empty beers next to him in the vehicle. It was also reported that Hunt’s eyes were bloodshot.

Hunt booked, later released on bond

The country singer was the only person in the vehicle at the time, and allegedly had trouble giving the officers his Tennessee license when he was asked for it. Officers said the singer attempted to give them his passport and his credit card.

The police gave Hunt a field sobriety test, which was recorded on their dashcam video. As of this report, the footage had yet to be released by police, despite a request from a news outlet. Hunt’s blood-alcohol level was reported as .173 on the arrest warrant.

The singer was booked at 6:30 a.m. into the Metro jail. He was charged with driving under the influence and having an open container, per the police report.

Hunt was latest released on a $2,500 bond around 9 a.m. on Thursday morning.

According to an E! News video report, the singer will appear in court on January 17, 2020, for his charges.
