It’s the end of an era for Keeping Up With The Kardashians fans. Well really, it’s the end of a three-year business venture because the Kardashians are shutting down their apps.  Kendall and Kylie Jenner are also saying goodbye to the monthly subscription.

The KarJenner clan is calling it a digital detox as they move on from their individual apps that gave KUWTK fans an inside look into their lives with exclusive content, never before seen photos and articles all for the price of $2.99 per month.

That was what it cost to subscribe to the Kardashian app for just one sister. If you wanted to subscribe to all five of them, well that would set a fan back almost $15 a month!

On Wednesday, Kim Kardashian took to her own website and shared the news. The Kardashian apps are SO 2018 and they will not be heading into the new year with the famous family.

As far as why they chose to shut down the apps in tandem, that wasn’t really explained. We can assume that they just weren’t all that profitable anymore.

Back in 2015 when the KarJenner sisters announced their individual apps, KUWTK fans were excited and signed up in droves. It became a popularity contest with Kylie Jenner initially pulling the most subscribers, with 1.75 million just in the first week.

Khloe and Kim Kardashian both did well with their apps too, but not anywhere near as well as Kylie. Both managed nearly half a million signups each in the first week while Kendall and Kourtney didn’t do nearly as well.

After three years of the Kardashian apps, interested dropped, both from the subscribers and the KarJenner sisters themselves.

Over time, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians stars stopped talking about the apps as much and the fans started subscribing less and less. Was shutting down the apps just a simple business decision? Probably so.

After the initial rush to sign up, the KarJenners stopped sharing their subscriber count. We can only guess that wasn’t a good sign.

So goodbye to the end of an era or at least the end of a three-year marketing ploy that worked out well at first and then fizzled as KUWTK fans realized they could just wait until the content was reported on and still not miss out on what their favorite Kardashian and Jenner sisters were up to.
