Eva Green: Making Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children was amazing

Eva Green says her character in the new Tim Burton movie Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is one of her favorite yet.

The Penny Dreadful star plays the titular role in the movie, based on the novel by Ransom Riggs, which tells the story of an orphanage filled with strange children on a mysterious island.

Eva says she was drawn to the role — which includes turning into a peregrine falcon — because she loves Tim Burton as a director, and because her character and the storyline were so strong, as well as the fact it meant she could act with children.

She told fan site EvaGreenWeb.com: “Just working with Tim again was a huge inducement. And I love the story and the character. She was so wild, unlike anyone I’ve ever played and I was so excited to work with so many children!

“Playing a bird was a new challenge! The fact that she transforms into a falcon helped me to find the physicality of the character. Tim likes to call her “Scary Poppins”!

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is set to be released in September, and comes after Penny Dreadful Season 3 ends this week.

Earlier this year Eva won a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series for her role as Vanessa Ives in the show.

But the star told how she always gets nervous at big celebrity events like awards ceremonies.

She said: “It was a huge honour as I am in awe of the work of the actors nominated. I had to keep pinching myself because it felt like I was dreaming.

“I’m always very nervous and feel out of place in these big events, afraid I’d get Tourette’s and completely lose it! Ha!”

Eva also told how she was terrified at the prospect of having to act on stage, so didn’t think she would ever return to theatre. However she said she was keen on returning to her indie roots, saying: “I love indie films and would adore doing another.”
