Taylor Swift dropped a new single this week and the lyrics are all about her relationship with Joe Alwyn.

Swift’s new single, which is also the title track of her upcoming album, Lover, offers fans a rare glimpse into the depth of her romantic involvement with the 28-year-old British actor, which is remarkable in the light of the fact that Swift and Alwyn have, so far, been secretive about their relationship.

Their focus on keeping things private has encouraged rumors and speculation about the status their relationship, and recently, fans have been speculating about their highly-anticipated engagement. Although there is no news yet that they are planning to get engaged, Swift’s lyrics strongly hint that the two are in a committed relationship and that they are planning to get engaged soon enough.

Listen to Lover by Taylor Swift and check out the lyrics in the video below.

Fans have been analyzing the lyrics of the song for their meaning, hidden messages and Easter eggs.

Verse 3 of the lyrics where Taylor says “I’ve loved you three summers now honey, but I want them all,” apparently confirms speculation that they’ve been dating for three years after meeting at the 2016 Met Gala.

Fans also interpret her plea that “I want them all” to mean that Swift is looking forward to their engagement and wedding, wishing to spend all their summers together.

The chorus and bridge of the song where she sings “Ladies and gentlemen will you please stand?” clearly alludes to their wedding. She continues by singing, “With every guitar string scar on my hand/I take this magnetic force of a man to be mine.”

That sounds a lot like wedding vows with another hint coming in the next lines of the song.

“My heart’s been borrowed and yours has been blue” are also heavy wedding references as it is a wedding superstition that a woman wearing “something borrowed and something blue” on their wedding day will bring good luck.

Some fans even speculated that the title Lover could be hint that the two are already secretly married and that she now has a new name! That is due to the fact that Taylor Swift has added her full name or her initials to the cover of every album she has released but doesn’t seem to be doing so with her upcoming album, Lover.

Lover is the first song that Taylor Swift has written all by herself since This Love released in 2014.
