EXO has just returned to K-pop with a six-member version of the group. The popular K-pop boy band formed under SM Entertainment and has released its sixth studio album, called Obsession.
Even though it was just released, it is already getting plenty of love and praise from K-pop fans, especially those who are part of EXO’s official fan club, EXO-L.
EXO shows off duality in Obsession
EXO officially released Obsession on Wednesday, November 27. Chen, Suho, Chanyeol, Baekhyun, Kai, and Sehun are the six members who returned — as the others are either busy with solo endeavors or fulfilling their mandatory military service in Korea.
Despite this lineup being quite small, the sextet of K-pop idols is able to hold their own for the EXO name.
Unlike their previous releases, EXO is showing duality with Obsession. That is featured in the music video for the song of the same name. Each member is fighting for survival against an antagonistic counterpart. This allows fans to see two versions of each EXO member, kind of like getting a double dose of EXO awesomeness.
As the music video for Obsession progresses, the video becomes more violent; ending in a very aggressive dance followed by a panning view of the Earth burning in a blaze of violent glory.
EXO-L shows love for Obsession
After only two days, Obsession is proving to be very popular among fans. The official music video is currently, as of the publication of this article, trending in YouTube’s top 100 most popular videos. As for viewer/fan interaction, the music video almost has over 20 million views with over two million likes.
For EXO and Obsession, fans are loving Kai’s “power dance.” It should be noted that all six members are doing the “power dance,” but Kai is the center during that moment, which is why fans are giving him the recognition for the new move by the group.
Obsession is available digitally on Spotify and iTunes/Apple Music.
For those fans who want to own a physical copy of the album, it is available for purchase on YesAsia. Take note that there are multiple purchase options — primarily with posters.
