Just two days ago, April made their second K-pop comeback of the year with the song Oh! My Mistake.
K-pop fans, especially those who are a part of Fineapple (April’s official fandom name), first learned about April’s second comeback for this year earlier this month on October 3. The album, which is their sixth extended play (EP) or “mini-album” in Korea, overall since debuting back in 2015 under DSP Media, was titled The Ruby.
Oh! My Mistake is the album’s title track song. Since then leading up to its release, April kept K-pop fans enticed with pre-release promotions which included official images, music video teasers, and even a tracklist reveal.
Oh! My Mistake utilizes an 80s theme to create a song with a subtle edginess when compared to April’s previous releases. Such a little change was noticed by the international K-pop fandom.
As a result, the song’s music video on YouTube is over 680,000 views. That is amazing given that the song is only two days old and released by a girl group formed by a smaller entertainment agency.
What is next for April now that Oh! My Mistake is released?
Now that Oh! My Mistake has been released, April will move onward to post-release promotions. In Korea, that usually means participating in music show competitions, specifically, Music Bank, Inkigayo, The Show, Show Champion, M Countdown, and Show! Music Core.
Right now, none of the “big three” girl groups (Black Pink, Twice, and Red Velvet) are competing so April stands a very good chance of winning some trophies for their song.
Today, April did make their first comeback stage on M Countdown. Since they just recently made their debut, they were not in the running for first place. K-pop boy band iKon won with Goodbye Road beating out Fromis 9 with Love Bomb.
After a week or so, April will also compete for first place trophies on music competition shows. They may also partake as special guests on variety shows to further promote The Ruby and Oh! My Mistake.
