Every month, movies will come and go from Netflix so it is always nice to keep track of your favorites so you can catch them one more time before they are gone (goodbye Amelie and Jurassic Park). Here is a look at the best of the new movies coming to Netflix in November 2018 that will replace them.
Bram Stoker’s Dracula (Nov. 1)
Everyone knows the story of Count Dracula, but in 1992 film auteur Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather) created his own movie based on the classic novel by Bram Stoker.
Gary Oldman is perfect in his portrayal of the gothic version of Dracula in this film while Anthony Hopkins was on hand to play his nemesis, Abraham Van Helsing.
The movie picked up four Academy Award nominations, winning three of them all for production aspects of the film.
Children of Men (Nov. 1)
Based on the novel by P.D. James, Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity) made Children of Men in 2006. What resulted was one of the greatest dystopian films of the last 20 years.
The movie, which is coming to Netflix in November, takes place in a world where a baby has not been born in two decades, which has led the world to the brink of collapse. With the end of civilization coming, a woman shows up pregnant and becomes someone that everyone wants for one reason or another.
Clive Owen (Inside Man) stars as the man tasked with transporting her safely to a group that only cares about her survival and the health of her baby. The movie was nominated for three Oscars.
Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Nov. 1)
One of Steven Spielberg’s greatest films is coming to Netflix in November 2018. Close Encounters of the Third Kind stars Richard Dreyfuss as a father who learns that aliens really do exist and places his research above even his own family.
The movie remains one of the most beloved science fiction films of all-time.
Doctor Strange (Nov. 1)
The fact that Doctor Strange is coming to Netflix in November 2018 is something Marvel movie fans should appreciate. Once the Disney streaming service starts, no more Marvel films will arrive on Netflix again.
With Luke Cage and Iron Fist both canceled, the era of Marvel on Netflix is coming to an end. For November, at least Marvel’s Master of the Mystic Arts will get one more run on the streaming service.
Good Will Hunting (Nov. 1)
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon won an Oscar for writing the script for this movie. Good Will Hunting stars Damon as Will Hunting, a Boston kid who is a genius and gets a chance of a lifetime.
Robin Williams was amazing in his role as the mentor to Will and Ben Affleck is also on board as Will’s childhood friend from the streets of Boston.
Outlaw King (Nov. 9)
A much-anticipated Netflix original movie coming in November 2018 is Outlaw King. This movie is the sequel to Braveheart.
Chris Pine (Wonder Woman) stars as Robert the Bruce as he follows in the footsteps of William Wallace and proves that his sacrifice was not in vain as he wages the war of liberation against the English occupation of Scotland.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (Nov. 16)
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is coming to Netflix in November 2018 from the Coen Brothers (No Country for Old Men). This was supposed to be a series but was condensed into a movie instead.
The film is an anthology film with six different stories from the American frontier, all written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen.
As the trailer shows, expect all the crazy and eccentric Coen brothers ironic humor and violence. Tim Blake Nelson, Liam Neeson, James Franco and Tom Waits star in the movie.
November is going to be a great month for movies on Netflix. With so many classics plus a selection of newer movies and Netflix originals, there’s definitely something for everyone.
