One of the most prolific and noted memorabilia and nostalgia dealers, Calabasas-based Profiles in History, the world’s largest auctioneer of this specialized merchandise, are selling Michael J. Fox’s iconic ‘Marty McFly’ ‘resizing’ jacket from Back to the Future II at their upcoming December 2015 auction.
Founded in 1985 by Joseph Maddalena, Profiles in History is the world’s largest auctioneer and dealer of original Hollywood Memorabilia, historical autographs, letters, documents, vintage signed photographs and manuscripts.
As for the jacket to be sold, it was a pivotal piece of wardrobe from the beloved film. When Doc Brown and Marty arrive in the year 2015, Doc asks Marty to put on clothes similar to Marty Jr. To help him pass for a contemporary teenager, Doc gives Marty the latest in high-tech outerwear. The item that Marty puts on after the self-lacing Nike shoes is this resizing future jacket.
A cable-actuated jacket was used for the re-sizing sequence. This is the “walk around” version of the jacket worn by Marty after the jacket was “re-sized”.
Constructed of nylon with rubber sleeves and “re-sizing” bellows and custom silk lining. Missing trim piece on left sleeve and pocket flap on the right breast pocket. Profiles in History also sold the cable-actuated re-sizing jacket November 6, 2010, for $80,500.
A portion of the proceeds received from the sale of this important piece of film history will be donated to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research—continuing Profiles in History’s rich tradition of helping to raise money and awareness for Mr. Fox’s important organization.
“Marty’s “future” 2015 re-sizing jacket is a major, instantly-recognizable piece from the Back to the Future trilogy. We are thrilled to offer it and donate a portion of the proceeds to the Michael J. Fox Foundation For Parkinson’s Research,” says Joe Maddalena, President/CEO Profiles in History
