Avengers 4: Marvel cinematographer Trent Opaloch may have leaked movie title

Did Marvel cinematographer reveal the title for Avengers 4?

Marvel fans who have been anxiously looking out for clues about the secret title of the upcoming Avengers 4 movie — the sequel to Avengers: Infinity War that hit theaters two months ago — believe it may have been accidentally leaked. According to online buzz, the cinematographer Trent Opaloch may have unintentionally revealed the title of the Avengers 4 movie on his website as Avengers: End Game.

Opaloch’s website includes a list of projects he has worked on as a cinematographer. The website Omega Underground noted that one of the titles on Opaloch’s list was the previously unknown title Avengers: End Game. This led to speculation that Opaloch might have revealed the title of Avengers 4.

Many fans are taking the claim seriously because Opaloch worked with the Russo brothers, Anthony and Joseph, on several projects.  This includes all three of their Marvel movies, namely, Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Captain America: Civil War (2016), and Avengers: Infinity War (2018).

Fan speculation that End Game was a reference to Avengers 4 gained even more traction after Opaloch removed it from his website following media reports that he might have inadvertently leaked the title of the movie.

However, some fans are taking the claim that Opaloch might have leaked the title of Avengers 4 with the proverbial grain of salt. Instead, they are suggesting that the title he included on his list might have been a placeholder because it seems unlikely that he was not aware that the real title of Avengers 4 was meant to be a secret.

Others suggested that Opaloch was deliberately trolling fans. But while some fans are skeptical, others looking to convince themselves that they haven’t seen the last of their favorite superheroes who were shockingly turned into dust at a snap of Thanos’ fingers in the action-filled Avengers: Infinity War, have taken the ball and run with it.

This is not the first time that fans have speculated that the title of Avengers 4 could be End Game. Fans first speculated that the fourth Avengers movie could be titled End Game after the release of Infinity War.

Many fans noted that the phrase “End Game” was conspicuously used in Infinity War. Doctor Strange uttered the phrase “End Game” when addressing Iron Man after he gave the Time Stone to Thanos.

Fans will recall that in Infinity War, Doctor Strange gave the Time Stone to Thanos after he appeared to have seen the future and learned how the Avengers could win against Thanos. A popular fan theory suggests that Doctor Strange gave the Time Stone to Thanos to help set in motion the series of events that would lead to the supervillain’s eventual defeat.

Speculation among fans about the title of Avengers 4 since the release of Infinity War has also generated multiple hoaxes and fake leaks. For instance, earlier this month, a blurred photo emerged on social media purportedly showing Feige making a presentation with the title Avengers: Fallen Hero behind him.

Feige had actually participated in a Disney presentation at CineEurope in Barcelona during which clips from Avengers 4, Captain Marvel, Wasp, and Ant-Man were shown. The “leaked” photo at first appeared to corroborate an earlier claim by a Reddit user.

He claimed that his brother, who worked as a lighting engineer at the 2018 CineEurope expo, heard a rehearsal for the Disney presentation during which the title of Avengers 4 was mentioned. The alleged light engineer declined to reveal the secret but claimed that the first letters of the last two words of the title began with F and H.

The claims have since been debunked by people who attended the presentation.

Amid wild speculation in May, the Russo brothers admitted that the closet guess they’d heard at the time was Avengers: Forever. Joe Russo went on to joke that the title of Avengers 4 was Avengers: Almost Forever. Another popular guess by fans was Infinity Gauntlet, which Feige denied. The Russo brothers also denied earlier claims that the movie’s title was Avengers: End Game, but following the latest development —  the apparent leak by Opaloch — more fans say they are convinced that End Game is the true title of Avengers 4.
