Cyndi Lauper will guest star tonight on Magnum P.I., playing a lawyer with questionable ethics.

During the episode titled Sudden Death, TC will ask Magnum to help him with a case, where he’d like to acquit the father of one of his young football players. The father is accused of murder.

However, the two don’t see eye to eye on the case, and their friendship may suffer. Lauper plays a lawyer, who is making the case difficult for TC.

Cyndi Lauper is best known as an American singer and songwriter, though her resume includes acting as well. Throughout her career, Lauper has released 16 studio albums, 38 compilation songs, and has recorded 92 singles and EPs. Her album, She’s So Unusual, was released in 1983 and featured some of her major hits, including, Girls Just Want To Have Fun, Time After Time, She Bob and All Through The Night. The album earned her a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1985.

A native New Yorker from Queens, Cyndi grew up in Brooklyn and Queens. In fact, she’s known for her Queens, New York accent. She’s also known for changing her hair color, sporting everything from pink and purple shades.

Cyndi is married to David Thornton. They met and married in 1991 on the set of the film, Off and Running. They have one child together. Her latest album was released in 2016 and in that same year, she was given a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording. The star is located at 6243 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California.

Throughout the career, Lauper has toured with some amazing artists, including Tina Turner in 1997 and with Cher in 1999. That’s amazing considering she lost her voice in 1977 and her doctors told her she would never sing again, according to IMDB.

Her extensive resume includes 203 credits for soundtracks, 63 credits for acting, 18 credits for composing and 11 credits as a director. She has 254 credits for appearing as herself on various shows and at events. Other than her music, she’s known for playing Marianne Lugasso on Mad About You on-and-off between 1993 and 1999 and for playing Avalon Harmonia on Bones between 2009 and 2017 for a total of five episodes. Tonight, she’ll star on Magnum P.I. as Vanessa Nero.

In addition, she’s known as being an LGBT rights activist, fighting for equal rights for all. Cyndi is the co-founder of the foundation, True Colors. Back in 2007, she performed throughout the United States and Canada as part of her True Colours tour for Human Rights, donating one dollar per ticket purchased to the Human Rights Campaign. She also encouraged straight people to get involved with LGBTQ rights in her Give A Damn campaign from 2010.

The True Colors Fund is working to improve the lives of members of the LGBTQ community, which include ending homelessness among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth, and creating a world where all young people can be their true selves.
