Geoff Schwartz from The Goldberg, the character who struggles with relationships and love, is played by a talented actor Sam Lerner.
Lerner, who was born on September 27, 1992, has been part of the show business industry since the age of nine. His acting career began after he talked to actors Ellen Gerstein and Dot-Marie Jones at a New Year’s Eve party he was attending with his family.
Gerstein appeared to see something in Lerner, who she recommended to Hollywood talent manager, Susan Curtis. While his parents were hesitant at first, he begged them to give him a shot.
He’s the son of journalist Patricia Klein and actor Ken Lerner, so his father already had one foot in the door. His parents were convinced that they needed to give him a chance at show business after he roasted his sister at her Bat Mitzvah party. He would later star in a Wells Fargo Bank commercial with his father in 2011.
According to IMDB, it was Barry Levinson who gave Sam Lerner his big break when he got a part in the movie, Envy. He played alongside Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Rachel Weisz, Amy Poehler, and Christopher Walken. He would also book a television pilot for ABC’s My Life With Men.
Throughout his short career, his resume boasts some impressive names, including projects with Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis, and Michael Bay. His projects include Two and a Half Men, Malcolm in the Middle, Envy, Monster House, Las Vegas, The Secret Saturdays, NCIS, Nobody Walks, Like Father, Suburgatory, Project Almanac, Lethal Seduction, Mono, Workaholics, Walk of Fame, Trolls: The Beat Goes On, and Truth Or Dare.
The industry runs in his family with his sister being an actress. Jenny Lerner has starred in projects, such as My Crazy Ex and The Mindy Project. His father Ken also owns an acting school and he’s a teacher at the New York Film Academy. Plus, his maternal grandmother was an actress on Broadway. His aunt has also performed in the musical, Merrily We Roll Along, on Broadway.
Lerner is quite active on Instagram, posting photos from The Goldbergs set and from behind-the-scenes of his various projects to his 58,000 followers.
While he can be seen on The Goldbergs, Lerner has also wrapped a few new projects. He has filmed a few short films called Purity, GigiBoy, and Susie Searches. He will also play Binger in the upcoming comedy flick Liked.
