The Pokemon Journeys release date on Netflix U.S. has been confirmed to be coming up soon in June 2020, the end of the spring 2020 anime season.

Pokemon Journeys: The Series is a Netflix Original exclusive that begins with the Pokemon Season 23 anime, and new episodes will be coming out regularly on Netflix U.S. into 2021.

The previous English dubbing cast from previous seasons will be returning for the Pokemon Journeys English dub in addition to several new voice actors.

  • Ash Ketchum is played by Sarah Natochenny
  • Professor Oak, James, and Meowth are all played by James C Cathart
  • Professor Cerise (Professor Sakuragi in Japanese) is played by Ray Chase
  • Pokemon Journeys’ Goh will be played by Zeno Robinson

When the popular anime series first began, Ash Ketchum and Pikachu were only intended to explore the Kanto region.

In Pokemon Journeys: The Series, Ash has finished his journey in the Alola region from the Pokemon Sun And Moon (Season 22) anime, and now he has a new plan in mind: see the world!

Ash is not only journeying to the Galar region from Pokemon: Sword And Shield, he will be traveling to every region that has ever been part of the Pokemon anime series.

Ash will travel with his new friend Goh, another boy who is just starting as a rookie trainer. Similar to the team of Ash and Pikachu, 10-year-old Goh has Scorbunny as his Pokemon partner.

In Pokemon Journeys, Ash is as determined as ever to become a Pokemon Master. Similarly, Goh is aiming to catch one of every Pokemon, including legendary Pokemon like the mythical Mew.

Our heroes are in for adventure and excitement as they explore the wide world of Pokemon.

The Pokemon Journeys anime is a soft reboot, of sorts. Near the ending of the 2019 Pokemon Season 22, Ash and Gladion battled in the final round of the Alola League.

With that win, Ash finally completed his goal of becoming a Pokemon League Champion. And it only took 22 year’s worth of episodes!

But Ash and Gladion used their respective Lycanroc in that battle, not Pikachu. You have to wonder if Ash will ever win a Pokemon League Championship battle with his partner.

After all, the first episode of the new series explores Pikachu’s origin story.

  • Updated June 1, 2020: Pokemon Journeys Episode 23 release date announced.

This article provides everything that is known about Netflix’s Pokemon Journeys: The Series (Pokemon Season 23) and all related news. As such, this article will be updated over time with news, rumors, and analysis. Meanwhile, let’s delve down into what is known for certain.

Pokemon Season 23 release date on Netflix U.S.: New episodes streaming every 3 months

The Pokemon Journeys: The Series release date in Japan initially took place on November 17, 2019. The Pokemon Journeys Netflix release date is scheduled for June 12, 2020.

The Pokemon Journeys English dub will also be featured on other networks outside of the United States. For example, the United Kingdom’s POP network will begin airing the Pokemon Journeys dub starting on May 25, 2020.

The Pokemon Journeys opening (OP) theme song music is being written and performed by the band Walk off the Earth.

As Netflix U.S. users know, the streaming giant likes to set up audiences for binge-watching rather than releasing episodes weekly. But Japanese audiences have been receiving new episodes regularly, and they’re already up to Pokemon Season 23 Episode 22.

Netflix U.S. plans on releasing the first 12 episodes in June 2020. Then the next 12 episodes (Pokemon Journeys Episode 13 through 24) will come out three months later in September 2020.

The official Pokemon website states that “another 12 episodes will be added every three months for the duration of the season.”

In general, each new Pokemon season has around 50 episodes (Pokemon XYZ had 47 episodes while Pokemon Season 22 had 54 episodes).

Therefore, the Pokemon Journeys release schedule on Netflix U.S. will probably have 4 or 5 three-month installments in total.

Based on that plan, the final episode for Pokemon Journeys should release in either June or September 2021 on Netflix U.S. However, the total number of new Pokemon 2020 episodes has not yet been announced.

Keep in mind that this estimate also does not take into account any delays in anime production.

Pokemon Journeys Episode 23 release date delayed over coronavirus to June 2020

The worldwide SARS-COV-2 coronavirus pandemic has devastated world economies and slowed or delayed the production of many anime series.

Starting in April 2020, the anime studio producing Pokemon Journeys temporarily halted production due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Japan.

The Pokemon Season 23 Episode 23 release date was originally scheduled to broadcast in Japan on April 26, 2020. The episode was delayed until June 7, 2020.

The Pokemon Journeys anime is just one of several major anime that has suffered delays.

My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU Season 3The Quintessential Quintuplets Season 2, The Promised Neverland Season 2Food Wars! Season 5Re: ZERO Season 2Sword Art Online: Alicization Final Season, and No Guns Life Part 2 have all been pushed back to later dates. Like Pokemon, the Black Clover anime’s delays could impact the Black Clover Season 4 release date.

Pokemon Journeys Episode 23 could release, and then the anime series goes on hiatus again. In the worst-case scenario, if the cumulative number of delays exceeds six weeks, then even the Pokemon Season 24 release could be delayed until 2021.

The good news is that unless the hiatus lasts for several months, it’s unlikely that any delays will greatly impact the Pokemon Journeys Netflix U.S. release schedule since new episodes are being released every three months.
