Warner Bros. TV on DVD dates announced: Arrow, Vampire Diaries, Supernatural and more

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced the July, August and September release dates for several of the studios hit television series – including 2 Broke Girls, Arrow, Vampire Diaries, Supernatural and The Mentalist.

July Releases:

July 9 – Ben 10 Omniverse: Heroes Rise - An all-new DVD release from Cartoon Network, starring its international alien-fighting hero Ben Tennyson, Ben 10 Omniverse: Heroes Rise will be available July 9, 2013. The two-disc DVD features 10 action-packed episodes from the series’ first season starring Ben, his arsenal of alien alter-egos, new partner Rook and a colorful underground world filled with intergalactic life. Also included in the set are “Alien Reveals” and “Alien Database” bonus features.

Ben 10 Omniverse: Heroes Rise will be available on DVD for a suggested retail price of $19.97.

July 9 – How The West Was Won: The Complete First Season - Experience the triumphs and tribulations of the Old West when Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group brings How The West Was Won: The Complete First Season to DVD July 9. 

Originally broadcast in 1977 and based on the 1962 film of the same name, the first season of this beloved series features an all-star cast including James Arness (Gunsmoke), Eva Marie Saint (On the Waterfront, North by Northwest) and Bruce Boxleitner (Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Tron).

This two-disc set contains the entire first season, told in three 90 minute segments.  As an added bonus, the release includes the “The Macahans,” the 1976 TV movie about the Macahan family’s initial journey out West to escape the Civil War. 

How The West Was Won: The Complete First Season is priced to own on DVD for a suggested retail price of $19.98.

July 23 – Superjail! Season 3 - This summer, The Warden is back and the death toll at Superjail continues to rise at a ridiculous rate in the all-new Adult Swim DVD release, Superjail! Season 3! Available July 23, the DVD includes all 10 episodes from the animated comedy’s third season, complete with fist fights, baffling love triangles and psychedelic animation that will melt your face off.

Series creators and executive producers Christy Karacas (Cartoon Sushi, Robotomy) and Stephen Warbrick (Beavis and Butthead, Daria) have also created a collection of bonus features for the DVD, which include animatics, rough cuts and an Introstring featurette.

The Superjail! Season 3 DVD will carry a suggested retail price of $19.97.

August Releases:

August 6 – Political Animals: The Complete Series - Step into the emotionally dark — yet real — human side of life and the often-disastrous effects of political ambition, as Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group (WBHEG) releases the Golden Globe–nominated limited-series event Political Animals: The Complete Series on DVD August 6, 2013.

The provocative  series, which follows a high-profile former first family as they weather the dynamics of their political and personal lives with grit, intelligence, and honesty, received a 2012 Golden Globe nomination for Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, as well as nominations from the Screen Actors Guild, the Directors Guild of America and the Writers Guild of America.

The series aired on the USA Network in 2012 and delivered 3.2 million total viewers, ranking in the top 5 in its Sunday time slot.

The Political Animals: The Complete Series DVD includes deleted scenes and has a suggested retail price of $19.98. 

August 13 – The Amazing World of Gumball “The Party” - This August, it’s time to party with Gumball, Darwin and all their friends in the all new Cartoon Network DVD from its award-winning animated series, The Amazing World of Gumball “The Party” DVD.

Available on August 13, 2013, this is the third DVD release from the series and includes 12 laugh-out-loud episodes from season one – including the titular episode “The Party” – and a character gallery.

In the feature episode, the pressure is on Gumball and Darwin as they set out to find dates to an upcoming party – and it turns out to be a night no one will forget.

September Releases:

September 3 – Vampire Diaries: The Complete Fourth Season - The Vampire Diaries delivers another gripping season to home video on September 3, 2013, as Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group releases The Vampire Diaries: The Complete Fourth Season on Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD. Averaging nearly 4 million viewers in its fourth season, The Vampire Diaries remains The CW’s #1 show among Adults and Women and will return for a fifth season on The CW this fall. 

Fans can feast on all 23 one-hour episodes from Season Four, plus over an hour of thrilling extras — including five brand-new featurettes, a fan gallery, deleted scenes and a gag reel.

The Vampire Diaries: The Complete Fourth Season has a suggested retail price of $59.98 on DVD and $69.97 on Blu-ray Combo Pack. 

 

September 10 – Supernatural: The Complete Eighth Season - Television’s toughest brothers chose one hell of a time for a family reunion as Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group delivers the eighth season of Supernatural on Blu-ray and DVD on September 10, 2013.

Supernatural: The Complete Eighth Season contains all 23 gripping episodes from season eight and is packed with nearly four hours of bonus content – including 3 featurettes, 3 commentaries, deleted scenes, a gag reel and more. Fans that purchase the Blu-ray™ will also have access to an UltraVioletTM copy of all 23 episodes.

Supernatural: The Complete Eighth Season has a suggested retail price of $59.98 on DVD and $69.97 on Blu-ray.

September 17 – The Mentalist: The Complete Fifth Season - Who is Red John? And when did he come face to face with Patrick Jane?  Simon Baker returns for Season Five of The Mentalist, which will be released on DVD September 17, 2013, from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group.

Averaging 11.9 million weekly viewers, The Mentalist is Sunday night’s most-watched entertainment series on network television and returns for a sixth season on September 29, 2013, at 10/9c on CBS. The DVD release includes all 22 one-hour episodes from the fifth season, plus never-before-seen extras with the cast and crew.

September 17 – Arrow: The Complete First Season - Based on the iconic DC Comics character, Arrow, a modern-day re-imagining of the superhero for television, will be released on DVD and Blu-ray Combo Pack by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group (WBHEG) on September 17, 2013. 

In its debut season, Arrow was the #1 TV series on The CW with Total Viewers, averaging over 4 million every week.  Renewed for a second season, Arrow will return to The CW this fall.

September 24 – 2 Broke Girls: The Complete Second Season - Start saving those quarters from your couch cushions because on September 24, 2013, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group brings you 2 Broke Girls: The Complete Second Season on DVD.

In its second season on CBS, 2 Broke Girls delivered an average of 12 million viewers weekly and was one of TV’s top 5 sitcoms among Households and Total Viewers. 2 Broke Girls was recently renewed for a third season and will return this fall to CBS.

The DVD release includes all 24 half-hour episodes from the second season, plus over one hour of never-before-seen extras including 2 featurettes, deleted scenes, a gag reel, and 2013 Paley Festival Cast Q&A.
