British rock outfit UNKLE is preparing to launch their first ever North American tour as a live band this Thursday, October 18th at Webster Hall in NYC as part of CMJ. The two-week tour will bring the band to Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas, during which UNKLE will release a new single with “Hold My
Hand” on October 22 in the U.K.
The song marks the second single from their critically acclaimed ‘War Stories’ album (Surrender All), described by Mikael Wood of the Los Angeles Times as “stormy set of dark, synth-streaked psych-rock jams that carries a whiff of tomorrow while looking back to the stomping proto-metal of Black Sabbath and Blue Cheer” (7/11/07).
On “Hold My Hand,” frontman James Lavelle steps up for vocal duties, proving himself more than capable of the task at hand. The song sees UNKLE strike up a lolloping, menacing groove and turn it into a relentlessly ominous tale of wants, needs, obsessions and pursuit, while cranking up ‘the guitars to 11′ with a lorry load of dirty licks and staccato beats.
