***image2:left***Tom Bosley and Michael Learned will star as Norman and Ethel Thayer in the upcoming national tour of On Golden Pond. Richard Chamberlain and Hayley Mills were originally announced to star, but when Chamberlain pulled out of the production for personal reasons, producers decided to cast both roles.
Craig Brockhorn will join Bosley and Learned in the cast.
Bosley is best known for starring in Happy Days. He won a Tony Award for his work in Fiorello!. His other Broadway credits include Cabaret, Beauty and the Beast, Catch Me If You Can, and Nowhere To Go But Up.
Learned is best known for starring in the Waltons. She has appeared on Broadway in Gore Vidal’s The Best Man, The Sisters Rosensweig, The Loves of Anatol and The Three Sisters.
Leonard Foglia will direct the tour, which will launch on August 22nd at the Ordway Center in Saint Paul, MN. Other dates and cities as well as casting will be announced at a later date.
The 2005 Broadway production, which starred James Earl Jones and Leslie Uggams, closed after just 93 performances because Jones fell ill.
Broadway’s creative will reunite for the tour, and includes set design by Ray Klausen, costume design by Jane Greenwood, lighting design by Brian Nason, and sound design and original music by Dan Moses Schreier.
After 48 summers on Golden Pond, Norman and Ethel Thayer open up their home to their grandson, who grows older as they grow younger again.
