Thursday sets major fall tour in support of new album ‘A City by the Light Divided’

Island recording group Thursday’s virtual non-stop touring in support of their new album, ‘A City by the Light Divided’ – which so far this year has landed them on the “Taste Of Chaos Tour,” the sold-out “Shirts For A Cure Tour,” and the “Vans Warped Tour ’06” (which ended last weekend) – now earns them a well-deserved rest before they head out on a co-headline cross-country tour with hardcore Chicago band Rise Against, and opening acts Circa Survive and Billy Talent.

Dates begin October 23rd at the House Of Blues in Lake Buena Vista (Orlando), and wrap up a month later on November 22nd at the House Of Blues in Atlantic City.
Fans across the Internet have relished stories of lead singer Geoff Rickly’s microphone mishap at the Vans Warped Tour show in New York recently, which netted him a bloody nose during Thursday’s set.

“When you’re the lead singer of a breathless and chaotic (and sometimes great) band like Thursday,” wrote Kelefa Sanneh in the New York Times, “then anything you say will sound better if your face is covered in blood.  That was Mr. Rickly’s situation after a collision near the beginning of Saturday’s set.  As his nose pumped red into his mouth, he found a clever way to introduce “Counting 5-4-3-2-1” … ‘This is a song that we let on the radio,’ he said. ‘Now we’re taking it back.’”

He was referring to the new album’s first single pick, “Counting 5-4-3-2-1,” which has logged some 280,000 plays on Pure Volume, where Thursday has picked up nearly a half-million profile views.  At the band’s MySpace site, they are up to 1.3 million profile views and 2.1 million plays.  Thursday recently played a MySpace “secret show” at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park; also in their home state of New Jersey, they headlined Bamboozle Fest at Giants Stadium to more than 30,000 in attendance.

Meanwhile, the video for “Counting 5-4-3-2-1” received an all-day premiere – airing every hour on the hour! – on MTV2’s “Unleashed” and  The clip later went to #1 on FUSE and #1 on Ovenfresh.  Another song from the album, “Running Through The Rain,” is featured in a commercial spot for the Saturn automobile. ‘A City by the Light Divided’ was produced by Dave Fridmann (known for his work with Flaming Lips, Mogwai and Sleater-Kinney).
