Roth, Germany - A German company recalled a Chinese-made bath toy Friday, saying the sea-horse from its mass-market 'Water Fun' range contained too much lead.
The toy had been imported by Simm Marketing since 2005 and had been sold in Germany, Italy, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Spain, the Czech Republic and Estonia, the company said at its offices in Roth.
The items, which have wind-up clockwork flippers and waggle across the bath, were typically sold in chemists' chains with packaging numbers 65545 and 65548 on them.
Simm Marketing German regulators had discovered during routine tests that orange paint on the toys contained lead and chromium in excess of toy standards. Both metals are dangerous when absorbed through the skin.
It put a picture of the toy online at its website, www.simm- marketing.com.
