London - Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce confirmed Sunday that he will take over as England Under-21 manager.

The previous incumbent, Peter Taylor, resigned last week, arguing he could not commit to both that role and managing his club side, Crystal Palace.
Pearce, though, will continue as City manager, despite reservations on the part of the club.
'I have been offered the job and I have accepted it,' said Pearce. 'Now, it is down to the club and the FA to both be comfortable with the situation.
'Hopefully they can finalise one or two things but I don't see any reason why that should not be the case.'
