Dortmund, Germany - Alexander Frei struck twice and set up Tinga's winner as Borussia Dortmund stunned Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich with a 3-2 comeback victory on Friday night.
The Switzerland forward Frei headed home crosses from Dede in the 12th and 57th for his first Bundesliga double before feeding Tinga for the winning 59th-minute tap-in.
Munich temporarily lead 2-1 from short-range efforts by Daniel van Buyten in the 25th and Roy Makaay in the 43rd, the latter getting his 10th goal of the season.
Munich had aimed to win after the winter break in order to put pressure on leaders Werder Bremen and Schalke 04, but could now find themselves six points down if Bremen beat Hanover 96 and Schalke win at Eintracht Frankfurt on the weekend. The leaders have 36 points each, Munich 33.
Dortmund rose from ninth to seventh with 25 points in the first match under new coach Juergen Roeber, who replaced Bert van Marwijk during the hibernation period. Friday's win in front of 80,000 was only their third home success of the season.
'I told my team to be patient. We could see what the team is capable of,' said Roeber, with Frei adding: 'This was a new start in a new year with a new coach. We owed the fans a lot and I think we paid them back tonight.'
Munich left back Philipp Lahm said: 'We want to win the title again, but we won't achieve it if we play like this. You can't throw away a match if you lead 2-1.'
