Apple Japan ordered to probe case of iPod Nano that emitted sparks

Tokyo - An incident in which a mobile Apple iPod Nano music player emitted sparks in Japan is being probed, Japanese media reported Wednesday.

No one was hurt in the incident involving an iPod Nano model MA088J/A in January, according to reports quoting the country's trade ministry, which was informed of the incident last Friday.

Apple Japan was asked by the ministry to investigate the case and find out whether there were other similar cases. Around 420,000 units of the affected Chinese-manufactured iPod model that were brought into Japan from September 2005 to 2006, were sold in that period.
