Digital radio for retrofitting
Berlin (dpa) - Dual has brought two new digital radios to the market. The DAB 1 measures just 14 cm x 9 cm and is basically only a display, the casing of which conceals the receiver. The mini-radio, which also receives VHF stations, can be connected to stereos, docking stations or active boxes through a jack plug and is controlled by the remote control provided. The second radio called DAB 7 is hardly larger at 14 cm x 14 cm but it includes a speaker and a built-in rechargeable battery which can run for up to eight hours. The DAB 7 also has a power supply adapter. The DAB 1 costs 70 euro (91 dollars) while the DAB 7 is 10 euro more expensive. Both radios will be available starting this month.
Honeycomb tablet by Archos
Berlin (dpa) - Archos has come out with a new seven-inch tablet PC with the Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) operating system. The device called 70b includes a 1.2 GHz processor, 8 GB of internal storage, WiFi and a display of 1024 x 600 pixels. The tablet also is equipped with micro-SD expansion for more memory and an HDMI port for connecting the tablet to a home theatre system. The 70b is available for 199 euro.
AMD A series: Over-clocking allowed
Berlin (dpa) - AMD has expanded its processor A series with 13 new models for desktops and laptops. Two of the five new desktop chips allow for over-clocking both the computing and graphic units. For the unlocked processors there is the new desktop model A8-3870K with 3 GHz frequency, 4 MB cache and 400 shader cores on the Radeon graphic chip. The fastest laptop processor A8-3550MX runs up to 2.7 GHz in turbo mode with much lower power usage.
Bluetooth keyboard with curves
Berlin (dpa) - Microsoft's new wireless keyboard features curved keys for more natural hand positioning while typing. The Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard 5000 is about 37 centimetres long, 18 centimetres wide and weighs 460 grams. The keyboard is not only compatible with Windows but also with Apple's iOS and some versions of Android. There is an on-off switch to help extend battery life, which can last up to 10 months according to the manufacturers. The keyboard will be available starting in February for 50 euro.
