Travel routers from Belkin produce own hotspots
Berlin (dpa) - Travellers on the road can use a new router from Belkin to produce their own hotspot.
The small Go N300 DB is connected by network cable to an internet connection and produces WiFi that can be used by numerous devices. Belkin suggests for example that two or three users can share expensive internet access in a hotel.
For a power supply, the device includes a re-chargeable battery which can be charged by USB connection. The travel router is available for 60 euro (78 dollars).
3D camcorder with glasses-less display
Munich (dpa) - A new camcorder from Taiwan has two lenses for three-dimensional recordings.
The Aiptek3D iH3 cannot only record 3D videos but can play them on its 3.2 inch display so that the viewer does not need 3D glasses. The camcorder can take pictures with a resolution of 3.7 megapixels in both three and two dimensions.
There is an HDMI port for easier transfer of content to PC or television. The Aiptek camcorder weighs 350 grams without batteries and is available for 249 euros in shops.
Windows smartphone from Acer
Munich (dpa) - Acer has developed its own smartphone using the Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) operating system.
The Allegro has a 3.6 inch touchscreen, a GPS sensor and 8 GB of internal memory. There is a 5 megapixel camera for pictures and videos. Office Mobile is already installed on the device to read and edit documents. The Allegro costs 349 euro.
Archos tablets for beginners
Berlin (dpa) - Archos has added three new beginner tablets to the market under the brand name Arnova.
The G2 series has 7, 8 and 9 inch displays in 4:3 format. All three tablets have a 1 GHz Cortex processor, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and WiFi.
They do not include a UTMS port. All three devices are available in retail and cost between 170 euro for the Arnova 7 G2 and 250 euro for the Arnova 9 G2.
Medion Lifetab available
Berlin (dpa) - Medion's new tablet PC has hit the market. The Lifetab P9514 has a 10-inch display, 32 GB of internal memory and runs Android 3.2 (Honeycomb).
The integrated dual core processor runs at 1 GHz while the tablet has a UMTS port and cameras on the front and back. The Lifetab costs 399 euro, including an HDMI adapter and a SIM card for smartphones with 10 euro start credit.
Opera 11.60 with newly designed Mail Client
Oslo (dpa) - The newest version of the Opera browser is hitting the market with an improved Mail Client. User accounts and an overview of all emails and their content can be displayed in one view in three columns.
In addition, the Norwegian developers have improved the browser's compatibility with HTML 5 while giving it more stability and a high surfing speed. Opera 11.60 for Windows, OS X and Linux is free to download from the company's website.
Apple eBook reader with night mode
Luxemburg (dpa) - Version 1.5 of the eBook reader iBooks is now available in the App Store.
The iPhone and iPad program now includes so-called 'night mode,' allowing for more comfortable reading in low light. Also new is the fullscreen layout which has gotten rid of all other ads from the screen, allowing for full concentration on the reading.
