Android tablets and e-readers: New technology products

Tablet from Viewsonic with IPS panel
Berlin (dpa) - The new Viewsonic tablet Viewpad 10e comes with a so-called IPS panel with IPS standing for In Plane Switching, allowing for users to have top picture quality when they are not looking directly at the 9.7-inch display. The device also has Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), a 1 GHz processor and 512 MB memory. The retail price is 349 euro (467 dollars).
Tablet acts as hard disk recorder
Berlin (dpa) - A new tablet from Archos can act as a hard disk recorder. The Archos 48 can record telecasts onto its 500 GB hard disk with the aid of a separately available DVR station. In addition, the Android tablet has an 800 MHz processor, WiFi connectivity and a 4.8 inch touchscreen. The price is 170 euro with a DVR station for an additional 50 euro. Both devices are now available.
Sonos software runs on Android tablets
Berlin (dpa) - The multi-room music sound systems by Sonos can now be controlled via Android tablets. With an update, the necessary software Sonos Controller can run on all Google operating systems starting with 2.2 (Froyo). Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) will not however be supported. Sonos Controller 3.6 is now available on the Android market as a free download.
