Benq unleashes new giant display

Berlin (dpa) - With an eye on gamers, Benq has put out a new 24-inch monitor.

The XL2420T is height-adjustable and offers brightness of up to 350 candela, a reaction time of two milliseconds and special modes for displaying shooter games.

The console's housing is black with red decorative elements and includes connections for headphones and handles for easy transport. The monitor costs 399 euros (535 dollars).

3D smartphone converts 2D games

Berlin (dpa) - LG has put out an update for its P920 3D smartphone Optimus 3D - a 3D Game Converter that, as its name suggests, gives 2D games new dimensions.

Games have to be in a horizontal format and based on OpenGL. The function is activated with a 3D Hot Key. The update is free and can be downloaded directly onto the smartphone.

Zyxel brings out a new media server

Berlin (dpa) - Zyxel has brought a new media server onto the market. Its NSA310 comes with a 1.2-gigahertz processor and a 256 megabyte working processor.

On top of that there are USB and eSATA connections and a one-gigabit Ethernet port. DLNA-compatible server software comes pre-installed, just like support for iTunes, XBox 360 and Playstation 3.

The server costs 102 euros (137 dollars), with the price increasing to 245 euros if a 2 terabyte hard drive from Western Digital is included.

Netgear's NAS now with USB 3.0 and apps

Berlin (dpa) - Netgear has updated its network hard drive series ReadyNAS. Compared to its predecessor generation - the Duo v2 model has two hard drive layers, while the NV+ v2, has four layers - the newest entries have a doubled data access speed. The drives are supposed to allow data swaps during operations.
