AOC presents thin IPS monitor
Berlin (dpa) - AOC is bringing a new 23-inch monitor to the market. The i2353Fh is housed in a 9.6-millimetre thin aluminium frame and comes with an IPS display, which provides a larger viewing angle than many of today's monitors. AOC reports a contrast level at 50,000,000:1 and a reaction time of five milliseconds. Both HDMI sockets and all other ports are integrated into the base. Sales are expected to start at the end of October for about 179 euros (236 dollars).
Clamshell mobile for seniors has Bluetooth, emergency call function
Berlin (dpa) - Swissvoice has released a new clamshell mobile with large buttons and simple handling designed especially for senior citizens. The MP40 also has an emergency call function that, in case of an emergency, automatically dials five phone numbers one after another, or sends them text messages. A switch on the back lets the emergency call function activate without even having to flip the phone open. The mobile also comes with Bluetooth, a camera, a LED flashlight and a radio. Already available, it sells for 90 euros (119 dollars).
Samsung presents an Android media player
Berlin (dpa) - Samsung's new Galaxy S WiFi looks like a smartphone, but is more a mix of media player and tablet computer that also has wi-fi connectivity. It comes with Android 2.2 pre-installed as an operating system, which means that device - measuring between four and five inches with a 1-gigahertz processor - can run most standard apps and games. The Galaxy S WiFi 4.0 with 8 gigabytes (GB) of storage space costs 229 euros (303 dollars), while the 5.0, also with 8 GB, runs for 269 euros.
