Atari to cater for the nostalgic with iPad gadget
Sep 6, 2011, 16:50 GMT
San Francisco - Video game pioneer Atari is to start selling a gadget that will turn cutting edge iPads into retro video game arcade machines.
Atari has yet to officially announced details of the new gizmo, but did leak details of the device on Apple's iTunes store, where gamers can download classic Atari games like Asteroids and Missile Command. Pictures of the device show a flat white base with a dock for the iPad and a hefty joystick alongside four buttons.
The idea is to recreate the early days of video games when they were available almost exclusively via dedicated machines in video game arcades. No details yet on when the device will be available or at what price.
