i think i've paid for a lifetime of shoddy products (movie,tv & music)so unless it's of a superior quality or unavailable content, most people will refuse, resist.

I think people are more or less always willing to pay for something 'memorable', thing is, a movie has gotten to the point where it's not sticking out anymore, it's just not that special.
The merchandise on the other hand still sells.

Summary : would i pay to go see the new (insert whatever brand) movie ? - no.
if i liked the movie, would i pay for T-shirts ? - yes.

I'm thinking we're approaching the point where companies have to give up on trying to sell the movies and music, and instead focus on using the movies and music to sell other products.
