Nintendo officially unveil the DSi

Nintendo hosted a press conference in Tokyo last night, and given that it withheld anything at the Tokyo Game Show this year, everyone was expecting something big. Naturally, Nintendo didn’t let the fans down, releasing a new and revamped Nintendo DS, the DSi. Nintendo have added the ability to take photos and play music on the DSi, in addition to being marginally thinner and lighter.

The screen is also larger, bumped up to 3.25 inches from the original 3 inches, and the DSi will also feature an SD card slot so that users can move content to and from the DS to the Wii. Nintendo have said that the console will be priced at 18,900 yen (approx. US$180) when it is released in Japan on November 1. No release date has been set for overseas, but Nintendo do hope to have it released next year. Much is made of the fact that Nintendo outsells Microsoft and Sony in the console arena. But Nintendo are also top of the charts when it comes to their handheld devices as well.

It's about time that Nintendo decided to include a web browser in their handheld line. the Opera Channel for Wii should still be free.The decision to drop the GBA slot is one that will probably offend some, but it's about time. The SD slot is a much better idea. For us Homebrew fans, especially!

Finally, they add Interent capabilities. I'm so excited!
Not too happy about the fact that they dropped the GBA slot, but ya can't have it all, am I right?

I like the idea of the camera, sd card, and mp3 copasity.

Yea, I'm kinda upset about the GBA slot leaving, but I guess everything else makes up for it.

I just got a DS lite, but when I heard you can't trade the DS lite for the DSi I WAS FIURRIOUS!
