Electronics giant Toshiba has this week whipped the covers off its new Portégé M700 computer, which builds on the success of the company’s award winning range of Tablet PCs and even incorporates a touch-screen LED backlit display.

Unveiled by its Digital Products Division, the Portégé arrives as the ninth generation of Toshiba’s longstanding Tablet PC legacy, and sees the Tokyo-based technology firm outlining that Portégé offers users enhanced performance and productivity best suited to on-the-go professionals, educators, and students.
"Toshiba’s Portégé M700 Tablet PC provides mobile professionals with an exceptionally intuitive Tablet PC to meet their mobile computing needs," trumpeted Jeff Barney, VP of marketing at the Digital Products Division. "Building upon many years of successful Toshiba Tablet PC platforms, the Portégé M700 incorporates our customer’s most requested features resulting in Toshiba’s most powerful and versatile Tablet PC to date."
The Portégé arrives as the first Toshiba Tablet PC that delivers touch-screen functionality that automatically adjusts to support both finger- and traditional pen-based interaction and input, creating a more flexible and convenient user experience. The Portégé M700 is also equipped with a widescreen 12.1-inch WXGA LED backlit display bolstered by an anti-glare coating that enables users to enjoy great clarity and viewing in a variety of interior and exterior environments and conditions.
Other integral features connected to the Portégé M700 include the Intel Centrino Pro processor, including Intel Core 2 Duo processing technology, the Intel 965 Express chipset, Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 4965AGN supporting 802.11n, and Intel Active Management Technology (AMT 2.6). It also comes equipped with a 1.3 megapixel Web camera, a DVD SuperMulti Drive4, the Ultra SlimBay for easy configuration alterations, HDD shock protection, a spill-resistant keyboard, and two Sleep and Charge USB ports.
