I have been using the Nokia N95 5.0 megapixel camera for months. What makes the Samsung think its the first 5.0 mag camera?
www.tm31.co.uk
yeh, urrrm! N95 would be the worlds first!
I also have a Sony Ericson K850I which has a 5MP camera. The N95 was the first in the UK market with a 5MP camera months ago.
yeah... er... Nokia n95...?
I Think LG had a 5mp one out even before the N95
The fact is...Samsung has been releasing the worlds first top megapixel camera phones from the very start...to name a few...5 megapixels...7 megapixels...10 megapixels...in a mobile phone.
Samsung has set the world record to all of these megapixel phones in South Korea, before all of the other brands...It is just the matter of Samsung Korean mobile phones are all Non-GSM...but all CDMA...WCDMA...3G...4G...etc...
So Samsung can boast about their 5 Megapixel phones...it's just that the other part of the GSM world didn't know about the information as much as the people in Korea...or unless you've gone to a CEBIT SHOW 2004...2006 etc...
So when Samsung releases 10 Megapixel GSM!!! models in the future? They've had the world record ever since, just the fact they haven't released the model in America...Australia...etc...So don't be WTFed when you see samsung boasting about a 5/7/10 megapixel mobile phone as THEIR world record, which was out in Korea YEARS ago...then look up to NOKIA bringing one out this year...
Have a look...Yes they sell these in Korea right now...
And Japan started the Video calling (NTT DOCOMO)...NOT THREE MOBILE...etc...
:)
look it up!
true dat
So you're saying it's ok to claim to the GSM market that they have the worlds first 5mp camera phone, because it was released in korea years ago?
I'm not saying they don't have rightful claim to that, but it makes them look stupid when they present a press release like that to a market that has had competing products for months.
Regardless of who released it first technically.
You Monkeys! N95 does it!!
Is it just me, or does that long tirade by 'if you don't know keep quiet' actually make very little sense at all.
What's a Mobile Phone? I'm an American and stupid.
Although the quality of phone cameras has been increasingly steadily recently, most come burdened with the digital zoom, which is, frankly rubbish.
All a digital ‘zoom’ does is digitally enlarge a portion of the image - that is, the camera crops a portion of the image and then blows it up, losing a ton of quality on the way. On the other hand, an optical zoom uses the optics to zoom to bring the subject closer and thus no cropping occurs. So digital = bad, optical = good.
Back to Samsung’s shiny new slide-out G800, the five megapixel snapper also comes with face detection, Wide Dynamic Range (WDR), panorama functions, multi shots and macro shots, with the phone presenting a camera-like interface when shooting.
Getting a little carried away, Samsung claim that the phone also offers “professional video editing functions” letting users cut, paste, and edit their own films.
The back of the phone is designed to look like a regular digital camera with a sliding lens cover, while the thing measures up at a reasonably pocketable 101 x 51 x 19mm.
Conveniently, the 3x optical zoom employs an inner zoom mechanism, so there’s no whirring lens extending out of the body of the phone, keeping the fella nice and slim in use.
Geesung Choi, President of Samsung’s Telecommunication Network leapt to the podium and was ready to enthuse like a pro: “As multi-megapixel camera phone becomes more and more popular, the needs of actual digital camera-like features grow together. Samsung’s G800 will satisfy the unmet needs in the camera category with a true digital camera-like design and functionality. The G800 will enable users to capture and share precious moments in their daily lives through the enhanced camera functions in a fast 3G network.”
The Samsung G800 will be shipping in Europe from November. Pricing to be announced.
The LG KG920 was the first 5 megapixel out here in the UK - August last year I think it was
In fact Samsung themselves relseased a five megapixel - the G600 - in september this year
Optical zoom fools not digital zoom!!!
Phone home
Does the N95 or K850 have a 3x optical zoom? Because that's what caught my eye, if you'll excuse the pun.
JT,
Aha, 'caught my eye'.
you crack me up!
I think what they are saying is that it is the first 5mp camera phone with 3 times OPTICAL zoom.
well, guys..it says world's first 5.0Mpx camera with 3x optical zoom !
