Fans of chart-topping "raggaeton" duo Wisin & Yandel are soon to be facing some serious hardware temptation as Microsoft Corporation prepares to unleash a brand new customised Zune music and media player.
Microsoft promotion targets Latin music fans with limited edition Wisin & Yandel Zune music and media player.
According to a report published by Reuters/Billboard , Wal-Mart stores will begin offering the Wisin & Yandel-branded Zune player on Monday, October 29, in order to tie in closely with the eagerly anticipated arrival of "Les Extraterrestres," the artists’ latest album, which is scheduled to hit retail on Tuesday, November 06.
Beyond arriving as a strictly limited edition Zune player that boasts original Wisin & Yandel aesthetic design, Microsoft’s Zune will also be equipped with the duo’s new album, related video content, exclusive pictures, and customised packaging.
Arriving as the very first customised version of its Zune, the Wisin & Yandel player is representative of Microsoft’s drive to highlight a Latin act that offers appeal from a youthful standpoint while also tapping the potential of top-selling Latin artists that are already firmly established in terms of mobile sales and digital download market traction.
"Latin music as a whole is a big priority for Zune and for Microsoft," commented Zune multicultural marketing manager Javier Farfan regarding the appearance of the new player. "In this particular partnership we were trying to reach the acculturated Latino in the US."
Viewed by Microsoft as an act that "embraces technology and showcases technology to their audience," Wisin & Yandel have become big business since first crashing into the industry with their hit album "Pa’l Mundo" in 2005, which sold approximately 600,000 copies across the US, a solid 1 million globally, and a combined 1 million digital and mobile tracks.
Citing that the duo has "evolved enormously" since the arrival of "Pa’l Mundo," Wisin reveals that the new album is set to deliver a fused mixture of live instruments, reggae and pop fusions, and no less than seven musical collaborations with artists including Don Omar, Eve, Fat Joe, and Franco De Vita.
