Packard Bell unveils the diminutive EasyNote XS

Computer electronics company Packard Bell has this week announced the official launch of its small-form EasyNote XS, a diminutive 7-inch notebook (laptop) device promising to deliver "advanced portability" through a richly featured PC system that’s designed to be an "everyday mobile companion."Described by Packard Bell as "the perfect choice for mobile users that find full-sized notebooks too big and PDAs too limited" the EasyNote XS comes equipped with an ultra-low power consumption VIA C7-M Ultra Mobile processor, up to 1024MB of RAM, and a 30GB hard drive. The little XS also boasts the Windows XP Home Edition operating system to deliver the user with "a full computing, entertainment and internet experience.""For all of us who want to stay connected in a comfortable way, this is the perfect companion," suggests Emmanuel Fromont, Sales & Marketing Vice President of Packard Bell. "It has all the functionalities of a notebook – it just happens to be very small."The EasyNote XS also offers itself up for a wide range of mobile applications with built-in Wi-Fi functionality and a VGA Web camera (for video chat), along with a "cleverly positioned touchpad and buttons" to make EasyNote XS mobile usage easy regardless of where the user might be. Other features include on-board stereo speakers, a 4-in-1 memory card reader, two USB 2.0 ports, and more than 3 hours of operational time with Wi-Fi turned on."VIA is extremely pleased to have Packard Bell choose our VIA C7-M Ultra Mobile Platform as the core of the EasyNote XS," trumpeted Richard Brown, VP of Corporate Marketing at VIA Technologies, Inc. "Packard Bell customers are sure to appreciate the extended productivity and creativity enabled by the small form-factor and the long battery life."The XS Packard Bell notebook weighs in at a mere 950grams and is sized a little bigger than a traditional paperback book – though it still packs a full size keyboard and 7-inch display screen. From the perspective of exterior protection, the EasyNote XS also comes complete with a suede carry case.The Packard Bell EasyNote XS is available now across European territories with prices varying depending on specific country and model specifications.
