Wheee!! Still more addictive forms of video games. Leaves real life for the rest of us to enjoy. You should see the beaches north of Frisco, almost totally empty the five of six times I've been out there over the last two months. (Working in Santa Rosa, live north of Seattle)
LOL @ VR
I feel like I take on the form of characters in games already. The difference here is that I can turn and look away from the monitor and sever that connection in an instant, while having the monitors strapped to your eyeballs instead forces the connection to remain while moving around.
Virtual reality is old technology. There were games made using it that looked like big arenas with railings all around so you wouldn't fall out of the game field. You strapped on the helmet and then you had to look or walk around, duck, and point a gun and shoot things. It never took off.
This is actually of very interesting discovery if it is rooted in residual imagery memory produced in the brain. For years many neuroscientists have been trying to explain the 'out of body' phenomenon reported by near death experience patients as a potential form of human hallucinatiion.
So, if I get this right, the energy balls in PAC MAN will be like basketballs in front of you. Will they have this out for MISS PAC MAN or would that need newer technology? Will this be out by Christmas? and if it will be, it should be for xbox, playstation, and nintendo. I would also like to have a version in my calculator because then I can 'see the numbers' like that line in the movie. Question, if they have that, can you jump through the zeros? Will that be out by Christmas too? What store will it be in? Toysrus or walmart? If it's walmart, would there be lead paint on it? or have we not made a deal with China yet?
Follow-up .. please order me two of the calculator version without lead paint. Thanks a bunch! Jimmy.
hahahaha thats jokes jimmy d
The less lurid researchers are right. I think it is part of the fight or flight reaction to a deadly threat. Several times during my child hood I had narrow escapes from physical catastrophy. In each case I had the sensation of being an observer watching what I was doing and experiencing.
Then, during WW-II when I was flying with the 8th Air Force, we had a couple of particularly disastrous missions when our group suffered 9 and 10 B-17s shot down by German fighter attacks. When things were going to hell all around us and inside the plane, the action seemed to slow down and I was watching the scene from inside the plane even as I went about my business. It's a weird experience but a damned sight better than getting hit yourself.

there are many wats to reach ab our of bodyt experience, you can reach it by lestining music by discipline for example the shamans or by eliminating you reactive mind bank reactiva mind is bad
The MAIN problem is the FIRST comment where they say, 'north of Frisco'!
HELLO! Don't call it Frisco. I dare you to come here to our fair city and call it that- you will be tossed off the 'frisco' bridge!
This really didn't add anything new that you couldn't figure out on your own.
I just want my holodeck. Please just build me one.
As fascinating as this experiment is, it really does not completely explain the phenomena. There have been documented cases where the individual has vividly described events taking place in another room or location and was later verified by the individuals that were observed. Errors in processing sensory information by the brain cannot explain how a person could know what was taking place in a location far removed from his body.
Not sure how this explains out of body experiences. The ability to recreate the sensation using cameras at odd viewing points and angles behind participants doesn't explain how people get these sensations naturally. I haven't met anyone yet with eyes in the back of their head, or with a natural 'chase view' third eye 10 feet above and behind them.
Googles instead of goggles, very good advertising.
Out-of-body experiences are not real, they are imagined, like dreams. It's kind of odd to compare this technology with something that isn't real. That's sort of like saying video games are analagous to some kind of spirit world. Pure rubbish.
ILLUSION - just like an other CHEAP magicians trick!!!
Someone can use it for brainwash, or, Use it for an almost life-like realistic experience(s). If a realistic photo or video of another (2nd) person is fed into those nerve/neural centers or pathways, and then that (2nd) person was killed by some weapon in some situation, then that experience will stay in first person's memory, and then, (a 3rd person) someone else can really kill the person and blame+frame the first person, and first person will fail even in lie detecting test. Since most games are based on killing or aggressive behavior, it will create a class or group of people who have killer and aggressive mentality. I don't think thats good.
In a 'true' 'Out-Of-Body' experience, some can even see the top shelf stuff in a taller shelf (or other remote objects), which normally he/she cannot or didn't see previously because of his/her lower height and higher shelf height. In some 'Out-of-Body' experience, some only sees limited parts or areas of surrounding, which he/she already previously seen, or very easy for him/her to think of. This 'Out-Of-Body' experience can be in the 'Virtual Reality' 'Astral Projection' etc category.
is it possible to happen more often.maybe during phisical activity or deep thought?
