Hong Kong internet spam declines
Aug 12, 2007, 7:49 GMT
Hong Kong(dpa) - The volume of internet spam messages is on the decline in Hong Kong, bucking a worldwide trend that has seen an increase in traffic, a media report said Sunday.
Hong Kong Internet Society chairman Charles Mok Lai-kwong said unsolicited email has declined by about one-third compared with last year, the South China Morning Post reported.
'We have observed from local internet service providers that the volume of spam has been decreasing for the past year by about 30 per cent,' Mok said.
He said one reason for the decline is that the Chinese government has introduced new measures to control unsolicited email messages sent from China.
