In a relatively quiet launch, Google has sent a few lucky people an invitation to test AdSense on their mobile websites. The invites were sent to developers enrolled in the Google AdSense program. Most website owners are already familiar with the AdSense program, where Google places ads designed to match the content displayed on the page. Website owners are paid a commission based on clicks to those ads.
A blog, Self Made Minds, broke the story when one of the sites owners, Scott, was invited to the pilot program. “I received an email tonight to say that I was invited to test out AdSense for Mobile,” Scott’s post read. The notice from Google informed him that initial testing internally was complete and that the select mobile AdSense members were getting invitations to test the new offering.
“As part of our efforts to develop new and improved AdSense products for our partners, we will begin a limited beta test for AdSense for mobile. AdSense for mobile allows publishers to monetize their mobile websites through the placement of targeted text ads. Publishers can take advantage of the fast-growing mobile advertising market and benefit from our targeting technology,” the Google invite said.
In order to use the mobile offering from AdSense, the website must be written in WML (Wireless Markup Language), XHTML (Extensible Hypertext Markup Language), or CHTML (Compact HTML) Google says. It would appear that this invitation is an extension to the mobile offerings launched in Japan in 2006.
In a 2006 press release, Google announced, “Today, Google launched mobile ads in Japan, our first ads offering to mobile phone users. Now, when users in Japan search with Google on their mobile device, ads relevant to their search keywords will display on their result pages. Google mobile ads connect users who are actively looking for information with relevant and timely services and products.”
Mobile content advertising is a huge market with billions of web-enabled devices in use today. Google is not alone with the push for a new advertising markets, Yahoo has their own advertising tools for mobile marketing.
The test is currently invitation only. In order to qualify you need to be an AdSense member, and have the ability to develop a mobile website. The test is designed to solicit feedback Google said in order to tweak the product for a final release.

Adsense?????? or Just Dumb
What consumer / mobile web user does not want the ability to interact with products everywhere we go?
Why not in ‘one click’ or say the keyword, logo, trademark, slogan and be directed to the mobile web page to get further information?
First, Why type?
Second, Advertising with the greatest, PC search engine (Google), can be so much more than clicking banners and receiving unwanted usless information on your mobile device.
Why not bill the brands to avoid click fraud. Give the web user and consumer the greatest tool to navigate the physical world?
Qode
Isn’t ‘one click navigation’ less time searching?
How can Google do mobile better??????
I would rather just 'qode' it.
What happens if Microsoft sees this technology?
