Imaging and optical giant Canon U.S.A. Inc. has this week revealed two new additions to its All-In-One printer range with the arrival of the Canon PIXMA MP470 and PIXMA MP210. Described by Canon as being designed packed with performance, the new printers are intended to deliver "ease-of-use and printing technology" along with functionality and style in a compact package.
Flexibly aimed at everything from "the dorm room" to the "home office," Canon outlines that both of its new printers boast 46-second 4 x 6-inch borderless photo print speeds and also include scanning and copying features captured in a convenient single hardware unit. Furthermore, the PIXMA line MP470 and MP210 will also arrive in Canon’s ranks as the first All-In-One printers to include the company’s new "AutoImage Fix" and "Quick Start" features.
"AutoImage Fix includes a function that automatically analyzes and categorizes the scenes in photographs to ensure that each individual scene is optimized in accordance with the scene types such as Portrait, Scenery, Snapshot etc.," said Tokyo-based Canon in its official release while also outlining that the new All-In-One models would ensure that the entire photo printing process is made easier for the user.
"All-In-One Printers have been on the rise for more than a year," commented Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager, Consumer Imaging Group, Canon U.S.A. "Having a small machine that can copy, print and scan for student projects, photo albums, home scrap-booking or crafting is very desirable. Canon's aim with these printers is to raise the bar for performance, design and ease-of-use, while still maintaining a value price point."
In terms of specific technical abilities, the compact Canon PIXMA MP470 offers a 1.8-inch flip-up LCD display for easy image selection and a double cartridge, four-colour printing system. Canon claims that the MP470’s minimum two-picoliter droplet size, up to 4800 x 1200 dpi colour resolution, and text print speeds of up to 22 ppm (pages per minute) in black and up to 17 ppm in colour will serve to strengthen the company’s reputation for building "high quality and fast multifunction printers."
The MP470 will also offer direct photo printing capabilities, a high-speed USB 2.0 connection, memory card slots, a PictBridge connection and an optional Bluetooth wireless connection.
The Canon PIXMA MP210 is targeted more readily at college students and at-home photo printing enthusiasts, bringing with it a maximum dpi colour resolution of 4800 x 1200 and a minimum two-picoliter droplet size to deliver "outstanding photo quality" to the end user. As with the MP470, text printing speeds are up to 22 ppm in black, and up to 17 ppm in colour. Additional features on the MP210 include high-speed USB 2.0 and PictBridge connections along with the Advanced Z-Lid expansion top to aid in freely scanning bulkier items.
The approximate retail price for the new PIXMA MP470 All-In-One printer is $99.99 USD (the BU-20 Bluetooth adapter has an estimated retail price point of $49.99 USD). The PIXMA MP210 All-In-One is expected to retail for around $79.99 USD.
