Given the lenth of use and the quantity of product in use worldwide, the chances of this occurrance were extrordinary. I hope that politics and national pride are placed in abayance for the term of this investigation for we all need to know the true extent of our risk and the risk to children.

No disrespect to the deceased, but it was probably a sub-standard battery that was sold to the man. Everything in and coming out of China right now is sub-standard. I don't truly think we need to worry.

the chemical agents inside a battery simply don't have the potential energy to produce an explosion with enough force to break ribs and lodge peices of cell phone plastics into a person's heart.

Motorola is being cautious because they are not sure what type of battery this guy is using but the worst case for him was that the battery released hydrogen which lite on fire but would not cause anywhere near the damage this story is claiming.

Please people physics doesn't allow it. Just like god and fairies.

Come on.. not EVERYTHING in China is sub-standard. Are you telling me you are not using anything, any product from China? Just look around your home, I quite am sure there should be something you are now using came from China.

I believe it's a bit mean to say that 'Everything in and coming out of China right now is sub-standard'.

'Not everything in China is substandard.' I have lived four consecutive years in China. This claim is false. From the childrens elastic catapults that break when slightly pulled, to the new 'Dell' computers (that aren't). China is full of fakes. Adibas, Yonexx, Fird (not Ford), Cherry (not Chevvy), Bell (not Dell), and so on.

I have bought needles that are blunt and thread which breaks while simply unwrapping it from its spool. Yes the Chinese say the same thing, but watch them go shopping, dear. Why are they so cautious? So very cautious? So very, very cautious?

From Hainan Island in the south to Harbin in the north to the far west Oromuchie (phonetic spelling), its the same thing. Try opening a Pedisi (not pespi, so read the can carefully, don't just look at the colors, for the colors have been faked), by pulling the ring-tab! I have six cans of fish here that cannot be opened due to a broken ring-tab. And this costs money.

One last thing: In Shanghai a Chinese woman tried to hang a picture on the wall. Her apartment was on the 23rd floor. Gues what? She couldn't bang a nail into the wall because her arapartment walls were made of cardboard! That made front-page news here.

Let's go back to the original statement you made, for it is kind of true, with qualification: 'Not everything in China is substandard' Okay, but now add this: 'on the condition it is not made in China.' Now this statement can be defended. In China the devil is in the details. Chinese donot crave overseas products only for prestige, they are more intelligent than this: they buy such stuff because it is not crap.

You cannot contradict experience.

Can you not contradict experience ?Oh yes yoy can .Almost all computer parts are made in China nowadays .Are they substandard ?I don't think so .Sometimes facts have a tendency to stand in the way of experience .Sorry about that .Nationalistic feeling interfere with personal experience too,did you know that ?

This is not the time to take an entrench possitions, while the security of others is ignored if the accident was cause by intense heat then lets investigate the work environment to ensure the security of others

Think that 4G is still in the future or many years away, think again.
Based upon GAIACOMM’s award winning technology, ultra-high speed
and reliable wireless data and communication systems are available
today.
Increasing demand for high performance 4G broadband wireless calls
for the use of multiple antennas at both the base station and subscriber
ends. Multiple antenna technologies enable high capacities suited for
Internet and multimedia services and also dramatically increase range
and reliability.
The target frequency band for this system is 1 to 6 THz due to
favorable propagation characteristics and low radio-frequency (RF)
equipment cost. The broadband channel is typically non-LOS channel
and includes impairments such as time-selective fading and frequencyselective
fading. Multiple antennas at the transmitter and receiver
provide diversity in a fading environment. By employing multiple
antennas, multiple spatial channels are created and it is unlikely all the
channels will fade simultaneously.
The Gaiacomm Base Station performs much like a Wireless Router
supporting traditional infrastructure as well as ad-hoc wireless
networking, however the base-station has the intelligence for
converging the wireless communication, data communication, computer
communication as well as telecommunications.

First indication that this story is 'blown up' should be, hes a welder. Maybe they should look into that.

I agree wholeheartedly that Chinese products are sub-standard. It was probably a chinese made battery that killed that poor man. I buy American, Indian, and Japanese. I don't trust Chinese products and produce. Of course, I also make my own pet food, and grow my own vegetables, so maybe I'm weird.

china sucks. they poison our pet food, poison OUR food, use lead paint on our children's toys, put bleach powder on bean sprouts, back terrorists, shall i go on? there are other countries much more worthy of our money, we don't have to buy from them for gods sakes. i don't even think it's the battery that killed that man, from what people are saying, it's not possible. maybe he had too many kids and they killed him for it, maybe he was using faulty equipment at work, who knows. i'm just taking advantage of a moment to speak out against this communist country. we need to stop supporting them. they're sick and wrong.

Everything I own (everything) that says 'made in china' is crappy and falling apart. Made in 'japan' on the other hand, is a different story. I stand behind my comments 100%. Sounds like the battery isn't what killed that man though, if the other posters are correct. Some very interesting reading, I got my discovery channel fix without watching tv!

When you come to China you will see numbers stencilled on the walls of building. Take a look. Take a good look. Look on every building in every city in China and you will see stencilled numbers. What are they? They are the numbers of plumbers.

Now I eat only the lightest and most digestible of foods because I know my excrement may not go down the toilet hole. There may not be a sewage pipe at all connected to it. Bags of excrement are fished out of Chinese toilets and plonked outside in the local trash can (expats call them float-bags).

True story: My bike pedal fell off so I went to get a new one 'screwed' on. I left the bike and returned later. I rode the bike for three turns and the bike pedal fell off. The bike pedal, after close inspection, had been 'glued on'. I was amazed. The man argued with me for ages about how he had fixed it. I learned to pedal the bike with one pedal.

A mobile phone battery can explode, on the condition it isn't a mobile phone battery, but only looked like one.

I once bought a pencil that leaked: but that's another story.

Having cans of good food that have no pull-tabs has nothing to do with nationalism, but the quality of food production.

Peace and love.

The freaking Chinese are gonna rule the world. Right after they finish off their only standing opposition, Islam.
