I started reading this article, and then I stopped when the thought struck me? Why do I even care what a blogger thinks of this movie? Who is this person, and why should we care what she thinks?
Does Moore have an evil agenda? Does Moore hate America? Do I give a flying crap about whether or not Marilyn Manson can speak in cohesieve sentences? Everyone seems to either like this movie, or hate Michael Moore. Is that all there is? Moore is an a-hole? These people were here, having these problems, before Moore shot a frame of this movie.
Was someone allowed to die of cancer because a board of directors at a health insurance provider decided it wasn't cost effective to treat him? Was this an isolated incident or is this a business as usual event in the system? Is this O.K. with you? I know your opinion of Moore, what's your opinion on health care? Do you think that anyone who gets sick should have at least basic access to medical care, or only people who can afford it should be entittled? Personally, I don't think someone on welfare should be getting a boob-job on my tax money, but I also don't think that someone should lose their father or husband to cancer if we know how to treat it and it just comes down to can we afford it. I'll take people over money any day of the week.

You say that apparently the person you were responding to was a left winger. You say that you are not a rich right winger, but you think that Michael Moore hates america?
Clue: just because some idiot makes a statement, doesn't make them right. You are a case in point.
Now, I am not interested in whether Bill Frist 'hates' America or not, but I am interested in how much he loves and covets money. His 'family-owned' supposedly blind trust company, Hospital Corporation of America, has made his family millions. they had been implicated in medicare fraud. Does this apply to your warped sense of right and wrong? Or do not the same rules apply for neocons as for everyone else?
You need to shut the hell up and pay attention. I imagine you have health coverage and don't have to worry about losing you ability to pay rent and food and bills if you ever get sick.
There are many people out there who DO have to worry about such things.
And hospitals are making a mint.
Tom DeLay made a quarter of a million dollars suing a ball bearing company, yet Republicans claim that all the costs of litigation are strangling businesses. Bu they are the first in line to use lawyers to gain large sums of money by suing someone.
Greed is at the bottom of it, nothing else. The love of money is a sickness.
This sure has caused some discussion, but seriously so if you don't agree with Moore you just say he hates the country? And the man was just stating facts and you should applaud him, of course he adds stuff to just prove his point but isn't that the strategy in winning an argument, there are lawyers out there who get murderers back on the streets with their way of stating their arguments and facts. Let's face it Moore is good and he did show that there are problems with the healthcare, some say he exaggerated, so what, the man is a movie maker and he's doing this cuz there ARE people out there in dire need of health care and aren't getting it. The point is the cases he shows in his movies should NOT have happened, and stop whining, I've read so many comments on different sites, some people go as far to say but yeah there are also people in Canada with the same problems... Oh okay I get it, so that means Moore is wrong, stop making this a who's wrong who's right scenario and go help these people whichever way you can, help yourselves and being a citizen you must always expect the best, you ARE tax payers remember, so yeah, if the health care system needs a change, go for it, you can never aim to high in making your country a better place to live in, wake up people
Who cares whether M.Moore hates America or not. I could really care less about him. The fact is, this movie, maybe not so much his other movies, is fairly representative of our health care system. Of course the insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, and even hospitals are out to make money. They are businesses and making money is what businesses do. Do these companies put money over health? I absolutely think they do. Do you think people in power at these companies care about the person or two dying when they ensure millions? No. Perfect example is Big Medicine on TLC. The people on that show have a sickness and many will die if not helped. The two doctors constantly fight (without success) with the insurance companies to do what is needed to save a life. Why argue about left or right or M.Moore...all of which distracts us from finding a reasonable solution to problems with our (all of us) health care system.
Who do you think pays for the 20+ million illegal aliens who get free healthcare? I'm quite sure Mexico doesn't pay. Mexico acts as if the U.S. is the free clinic. The more free medical care Americans give to illegal aliens, the worse our healthcare system gets. It's time to start sending the medical bills to the illegal's country of origin.
Michael Moore hates America. He's also a multi-millionaire. Let him spend his millions on the poor if he's so worried about healthcare system. You know that will never happen. Why doesn't Mike move to a socialist country? Because he makes too much money here in 'evil capitalist' America. He's the real sicko.

Now that would be funny! Even better, put it on YouTube so everyone can get a good laugh. After all, laughter is the best medicine.
Health care is big business. If I'm not mistaken, I believe that a health care provider was George W. Bush's #1 corporate contributor in the 2000 election. Don't expect rightwing-extremist Republicans to lift a finger, if it means improving health care for hardworking Americans, and keeping greedy health care 'providers' in check. The bottom line here isn't really whether or not the blogging community agrees with her critique of 'Sicko.' The question is whether or not the comments represent Google or not.

It's a free country, but I tend to think the exact opposite. I'd say that despite the fact that he's relatively wealthy, he takes stances that might not be particularly popular with the powers that be, but that will make the lives of everyday, working people--better.

The difference between rich Democrats and rich Republicans is that Dems tend to give back to the community, while Repubs claim that they did it on their own. Riiiiiiiiiiiiight! Actually the very problem is that America has the most millionaires in the world, yet is the only developed country without universal healthcare. If universal healthcare is socialized medicine, then EVERY OTHER industrialized country must be socialized - by that reasoning. The issue of illegals is an entirely different issue. American citizens who work hard and obey the law have the right to decent health care. It's a little bit funny how billionaire Republicans simply want the working and Middle class to suffer. Btw, the Middle Class is disappearing, so they'll only have the poor to pick on, eventually.

It must be so much fun to be you, to go through life knowing deep down in your heart that America's problems are everyone elses fault, and someone elses to fix. It must be pretty frustrating to see all these people actually trying to fix something that you don't see as broken, if we would all just pack up and leave, this country would be so much quieter huh? Until someone thinks that maybe you're someone who should leave.

I pay quit a bit in taxes and in health premiums, and a lot of 'out of pocket' expences as well.
I don't go around asking for the government to 'gimme gimme gimme' anything. But isn't it the governments job to take care of the well being of its citizens? Isn't that why the big things in life, like the military, police, fire, FEMA, etc.. are in the hands of local state and federal government? Why isn't basic health care in that line up? I'm already paying taxes to save strangers lives, I could sleep at night pretty soundly if some of that money was going for a homeless mans chemo, wouldn't bother me a bit. Or at least they could put down some regulations into how the health management system is run. The FDA can make sure privately financed drugs and food doesn't kill us, the EPA can make sure corporate pollution levels don't poison us, why can't they stop health providers from hurting people over money?

No. Try reading the constitution some time. The job of the government is to protect the individual rights and freedoms of individuals. It's your job to take care of yourself. You are not a child. (Correct me if I presume too much on that last point.)

All I got to say - I took my baby daughter to the doctor for 3 shots. When I got the bill, I had 3 $25 charges for 'administering the shots'. It took the nurse 10sec. to admin the shots, but this 10sec. process cost me $75. This, of course, does not include the cost of the shots and the office visit...
When a hospital has the balls to charge me $75 for 10 seconds of unqualified work (drug addicts do it all the time without medical training), something must be wrong with the health care system.
This whole thing started with good ole boy Lyndon Johnson who never saw a buck he wouldn't stoop to pick up...who came to Washington from being a teacher in a one room school out in the middle of nowhere and died a multi millionaire...only in America...Now for the answer to the real big question 'what percentage of all health care dollars are spent on the last 30 days of life ?' I suggest that the answer for the last 30 days of life is about 70%...how do like them apples.
as Google grows its bound to hire a standard curve of employees, the curve being to what degree the employee's heads are up their, well, little intestines.
Internally, Google should cut the crap, cut these marginals out of the company, and firm up their core.
I used to use Google exclusively, now I dogpile, completely because of the way

Answer: It isn't.
I read numerous criticisms of Sicko before I saw it, and I assumed that the critics were well reasoned and rational. I finally had a chance to see the film and I can not understand why people are upset about the film. I am no fan of Michael Moore, nor do I dispise him, but I found the film to be powerful and reasonable. There is no question that Moore new what point he was going to make before he started filming, but he would certainly be the first to admit that.
The bottom line is that we are the wealthiest country in the world, spend the most per person on helath care, but have the worst, longevity and infant mortality in the western world. Moore was simply trying to tell some compelling stories to illustrate how heartbreaking the reality of American medical care can be.

Don't wave the constitution at me, the basis for the war of Independance, for the foundation of the United states, was to install a government concerned with the equality of safety and happiness for all its citizens and to overthrow one that was not.
Seeing as I work for pharma, I feel qualified to enter this quarrel. Mischevious lawyers and corporate hegemony aside, very few voices are informed in this debate. US healthcare pads the balance-sheet for big pharma, which makes an appreciable (though underwhelming) investment in r&d. Ineffiencies are rampant in the industry, and the inelasticity in the good they provide propagates this pattern. Don't ask for ground-breaking medicines to treat your cancer, and drugs will be cheaper. Don't over-consume pills for your penis and pain-killers, and drugs will be cheaper. As private companies, they are inherently responsive to consumer demand. To the extent they manipulate consumer demand, regulate them. It can be more simple than the conspiracies we imagine...
The point is we are the worlds No.1 Power house and we do not have the best health care system, we are not even in the top 10. We have the biggest and most dangerous military in the world yet we can't provide excellent health care to our own people.... We need to discuss that rather than talk about minute details in Sicko ... The fact is U.S.A as powerful as it is rather have a more oiled military machine rather than top notch health care for the people!!
