As for Canada, you do realize that they have govt. imposed price controls on drugs right? That Canada has very little research into new drugs because of that. They get to ride of US R&D for almost all of the drugs they dispense.
As for MM hating the US, is it not obvious, the documented spins in his bogus documentaries show in abundance that he wants a US that has never existed. I think and others agree that he is secretly a canadian!
I also failed to note where in the Declaration of Independence that free health care was promised. Do you really think in 20 years time, when we are cloning new livers, hearts, kidneys that the gov should just pick up the tab to keep you living? Are you willing to have your government pay for a whole new body for the 100yr old abusive, alcoholic welfare dad, who thanks to all those free medical parts will continue to be a drain on society?
As for good old socialized medicine, you will note those muslim doctors that became terrorists in Scotland. That's because the Scottish doctors emigrated to the US or Australia, so place that rewards you for going to school for 10 years.
Michael Moore should stop bashing the health care system claiming that it is a money driven business where everything is about profit. This is a capitalist country, everything is driven by money. He should not even speak about money considering he is receiving 50% of all proceeds from the movie, which is more than any actor or director has received in history. He should put his money where his mouth is and donate all of his proceeds to charity and health care if he opposes it so strongly saying it is our moral obligation to provide health care.
Not entirely the brightest suggestion to use Adwords to attack Moore...
(goes against their TOS for sure)..and the various health industry verticals are not likely to go down this path (though their lobbying strength in D.C. allow them to twist some serious political arms...)
Anger's a funny thing...it strips people of common sense and simple logic...
blog on...
it was actually a hard to read rant. but i did get the gist of it. google likes money. the motto 'do no evil' doesn't stand up well when industry is willing to pay you off.
Pay Attention!
This is not the only person who has shown the movie 'Sicko' to a con job.
Kurt Loder's review on MTV totally exposes the movie for what it is-- a movie pretending to be a documentary.
In other words-- a movie made by someone who is an excellent showman who has
no critical thinking skills whatsoever.

I don't need a movie, or an article or a blog to tell me that our health care system is a joke. I was put through the ringer of our profit-first corporate run nightmare that we call health care. More and more people like myself are speaking out. If the companies want more enemies they can keep denying claims, and preventing people from even having the option of purchasing health insurance as I was for 6 years. I haven't met anyone who has been happy with their coverage or with the cost of the US system. So some idiot blogger can write an 'article' big deal. We know the TRUTH!
To any who have the ablity to do so: Follow the Money, and let's understand whether any, and how much, has flowed from big insurance/big pharma to 'Lara Turner.' Moore's lasting contribution is that he has highlighted, in a way which will bring the issue into public debate, the central difference between the U.S. and all other industrailized countries: Basic medical care is a Human Right elsewhere. In the U.S., health is something for the AARP's, the Kaiser Permanente's, the George Bushes, and the Karl Roves, to play profit games with. Big Insurance/Big Pharma spend outrageously to lobby and suborne, to keep this issue out of public debate. Moore will be remembered long after the U.S. finally adopts single-payer, ordinarily humane health care, as the courageous individual who finally forced the public debate.
Dear Jason,
Your grammar and composition skills are a good match to your debating prowess...
'Soory, but talkign about right wing and left wing goes completely off topic. '
Michael Moore is a political hack and has made it perfectly clear on previous documentaries and on mixed media interviews..he hates GW and any politician not following a leftist dogma.
Most useful idiots (reference;Lenin) like you are content to spew garbage on these blogs without a thought. My advice: pursue an education, travel, get a job, then return to us when you have opinions worthy of a grown up :)
I liked this movie. I do have a brain and I understand that Moore has an 'agenda' he is pushing with it, that doesn't really bother me. I would have liked to have heard the other side's point of view, not just the guilt ridden former low level enforcers of the HMO's, but the actual people calling the shots and making the money/decisions. Not sure if they declined interviews in the movie, or just weren't asked by Moore, but it would have been nice to have heard the justifications, maybe some of them would have made sense to me. But I doubt it. I was raised as a christian, not the hellfire and brimstone screw up and go to hell kind. But as christian who has tried to live his imperfect life trying hard to make the right choices, or at least trying not to hurt too many people when I've made the wrong ones. I have to wonder what Jesus would think of our healthcare? I don't think he'd be happy, after all, if you believe your bible, he spent the majority of his 'working' life living among, healing, and helping in any way possible the poorest of the poor.
I understand the country and world we live in, we need big business and profit driven industry to stay ahead of pack, it does make us strong and that is a good thing. But when it actually starts killing us, when do we draw a line between country-industry and the individuals that the counrty-industry tells us they're doing all this for? I was taught that no amount of money can bring back a human life, it goes against everything I've been taught as a christian and a human being to put a price on someone's life, so again, I would really like to hear some justification as to why someone has to die because the cure was too expensive.
Change is in the air for the U.S. healthcare system and even Republican voters are now on board. All the 'think tanks' bought off to spread their silly exceuses and lies can't prevent a wholesale re-invention of a system that simply does not serve anyone well. Except of course the inefficient, bloated corporations sucking billions away from the delivery of healthcare services into their coffers.
All Moore's 'documentaries' are heaving on emotional devices and anecdotes, and rather short on research and factual content. I am amazed how he presents one 'fact', and then another 'fact', then asks 'are these two things connected?'. This tactic completely relieves him of any responsibility to show cause and effect, but leaves his ignorant fans the impression that such a connection exists. No scientist would dream of such an approach.
Moore's methods prey upon the emotions of the untrained. He is a sleeze.
I've seen some good stuff with health insurance. It's annoying to have to pay anything out of pocket. It's also difficult to ensure I have health insurance. I need to make sure my job offers it or have to pay for it myself. I consider that my presonal responsibility. I also understand that everyone can't always make these things happen. Some people get free health care (paid for by everyone else). And the free stuff isn't as good as that stuff that costs money. Yeah, it's a tough world.
The sky-rocketing cost of health care in this country is multifactorial.
Firstly, lack of health care for many is a very big reason. It is unethical for a hospital to not provide urgent or needed care, even for those who cannot afford it. Unfortunately, reimbursement from medicaid is not even close to the actual bill that results from treating the poor. No business can operate indefinately while losing money. To help cover the cost of the un and underinsured, hospitals increase the rates for the insured. Secondly, the uninsured use the emergency services for the primary care. This practically guarantees that they will be seen near the most expensive treatment point: when their disease has debilitated them to the point they they have problems working and they require expensive ICUs and ward treatment. This problem would be solved by universal health care which would ensure that major diseases are managed in their early stages. the savings would more than offset for the cost of univsersal health care. lawyers are a huge problem tool. These days, lawyers are trained to scan medical records for seeming inconsistencies. Sympathetic juries with no medical knowledge are asked to give patients ridiculous amounts of money for things that are not the doctor's fault. They often succumb to the worst legal arguments reasoning that the malpractice insurance pays it, but we all pay in the end. Boo to lawyers.
Is this news? I don't believe I've ever read a news article about a blog. How did this get into M&C? Someone please tell me. What am I missing? Am I reading the news THAT much?
I wouldn't call myself an ignorant fan, and I don't think, and I've yet to hear anyone claim that this was a straight up non biased documentary. He does have an angle he's shooting for. But unless those people were paid actors faking illness and death, I don't really care what his slant might be. If people are dying for no other reason than that they are poor, then that is wrong. This is one case where I have to see in black and white. What is more important, people or money? And I don't mean keeping money flowing for medical R&D, new drug development, or slowing down progress by cutting funding for new breakthroughs in care and services. I'm talking about someone not getting chemo because it's going to cut into a CEO's bonus. If you don't agree with Moore's solution, fine, but do you acknowledge a problem exists? I don't think that complete socialization is the answer either, but something needs to change because it's just wrong to treat people like this.
Moore hates America, But sure loves her money..Total jerk
Moore is not worth comment. I hope someday that the rest of you realize this.
Michael Moore is so objective. He always presents each side of every issue he covers without an unfair bias to anyone's opinion, including his own. He gives both sides so that anyone can make their own assessment. He never tries to push anyone to a particular view and most certainly does not use deceptive editing techniques.
I wonder if the problem with the US health care system is that we have failed with this whole 'managed care' experiment. Is it possible that now we don't have enough sense to turn it off? Those with health care coverage have become addicted to $20 co-pays and office visits whenever they have a sniffle, at the expense of the shrinking number of people who have no coverage, who don't go to the doctor (when they clearly need to) because they cannot afford it. The HMOA (Health Maintenance Organization Act) of 1973 basically created this managed care mess, and 30 years later we're drowning in disfunctional insurance company bureaucracy and nonsense.
I think if we were smart, we'd organize to pass legislation to repeal HMOA, and we'd pass additional legislation to force all HMOs to operate under indemnity policies only -- doctors would again be allowed to practice good medicine, and HMOs would be forced to downsize and focus on the only thing insurance companies have ever been good at -- taking money and paying claims. Those who could not afford coverage would no longer be paying for the negotiated rates of those who did. Further, doctors should be provided some reasonable level of guaranteed E & O protection by the state boards who grant licenses -- this would help with the runaway law suits, and it would put the boards who grant licenses on the hook for who they authorize to practice. Finally, any claimant who fails in a legal case against a doctor should be required to pay 50% of the doctor's legal fees. The other 50% should be paid by the claimant's lawyer. A lawyer who loses three such cases should be disbarred for a period of one year.
We have a lot of things to fix, and probably the only thing everyone agrees on is that the system is not as good as it could be.
Obviously 'Google' is not in the business of movie reviews. This is just an attempt by Moore to do what he does best: misinform. Face it, in bowling for columbine he had the audience believing that Marilyn Manson was an articulate, intelligent businessman, and that Charlton Heston was the Devil. THAT takes talent. However, the moral principle is still the same. A lie is a lie, whether or not it's spun in a convincing manner. By Moore attacking his critics by trying to get them fired by Google, he is simply proving that he's not just an objective film maker like he is pretending to be, but rather a political henchmen with an evil agenda. Everyone knows it, ok?
