It's now becoming a little clearer.
The Thai Government's initial outrage against YouTube was probably also a cover for it's next target: Websites critical of the Thai government.
It makes one wish for the good old days of Taksin.
The choice is between an democratic but corrupt government or a mismanaged bunch of baffons.

The only thing that is clear is that Thais rightfully love and adore His Majesty The King. Long may he live.

To wish for a return to Thaksin, you are clearly uninformed regarding his nearly six years in office.

I believe I have followed most of the politics in thailand the past years.

I would like to get informed why Thaksin was so bad for Thailand, because I do not understand it.

During Thaksin's 5 years in power, the economy grew by 50%, the poverty rate was reduced from 20% to 10%, and Thailand did not loose any position in the corruption perception index, rather the opposite. Thailand's position was 61 out of 91 ranked countries in 2001 and had position 59 out of 159 in 2005.

I am greatful if someone can enlighten me.

Loyal to the KingApr 12th, 2007 - 12:16:37

The King of Thailand is often in a difficult situation since he is above politics, but yet often used by Thai politicians to support their own policies. It is too unfortunate that some abuse the King by claiming that others, such as Taksin have criticized the King. The ones claiming this are the ones who should be prosecuted for abusing the office of the King. They should not be allowed to hide their criminal behavior of

It is nice to see this display of medieval peasantry mentality in the 21 century...
your king and lackeys have learnt very well from Luis XIV how to brainwash you with the divine right theory as a tool.
But it is nicer that i live in the other side of the planet where those 'ideas' were overthrown 2 centuries ago.

I am sorry for those Thais than prefer to live in a free speech 'corrupted, amoral and ungreatful' state rather that in you 'holy, divinely commanded and rightful' kingdom.

But you, king loyalist, dont worry: you know that you are right because you are right, and no more. Reason and enlightment are too futuristic for you.

To Confused:
Distorted economic statistics are meaningless. For Thaksin to direct the non-judicial murder of 2,500-plus during his so-called drug war and to so sloppily handled the troubles in the Deep South resulting in the deaths of an additional 2,000 Thais. Human rights violations...corruption scandals... neopotism... The list of his evil-doings are nearly countless.
Do a bit of reading.

To Danciagar:
An editorial from Thailand's English-language newspaper=

Internet forums often a fountain of misinformation about Thai culture

Unless you've been vacationing in the middle of the Amazon forest, it's very unlikely that your ears are not by now full to bursting point with relentless reports on Thailand's delirious censorship campaign.

Even though I disagree with most of this rampant government-driven censorship, recent news has brought to my attention once again the way countless Westerners misunderstand Thailand and its people.

For the past couple of weeks the Internet has been flooded with Westerners (many of whom have never been to Thailand) dictating to Thais how they ought to live their lives, that they should stand up and fight for their rights following the grand example of the Western world. Though their intentions may be grand, they haven't come to the realisation that their notion of a perfect society comes from their own Western conditioning. Before you begin blatantly criticising something, it is wise to gain a little insight about your target first.

sure, misundertood, thay culture....
i dont speak about thay culture.
i speak about you political structure, that is not so 'unique' to call it Thay culture.

you dont define spanish culture with its actual representative monarquic as you didnt with its fascist dictatorship of Franco...
you state configuration is something different, changeable.
you live in a monarchic militar oligarchy... not far different from franco's spain in the 60's.

dont use the old trick 'european we dont know anything and we always thing that we know what is the best for any other countrie', is lame.
one cuestion,do you realy think that you king is there by divine right?
dont fool yourself thinking that your king is part of your culture.

you can execute your king, make every single thay step on his head with bare foot, and Thay culture will be the same...
But,it is Thay people who decide: you dont mind your monarchic militar oligarchy,
Enjoy them. ;)
