Funny how a sport such as fooball can mirror national characteristics. The Italians weren't winning by fair means against Australia, so they resort to the tried and trusted method of which they have had great success in the past, cheating. England may not have won in the world cup as many times as Italy, but at least I can be proud that our team doesn't resort to diving and play acting.

Soccer is a fantastic game and nail biting one for spectators but it is entirely ruined by poor refereeing. FIFA needs to take action to improve the standard, otherwise the sport will only be viewed with cynicism as outcomes will come down to one person instead of two teams.
