The only website I use IE for is the windows update. A big ho-hum is the reception IE 7 deserves.

You're an idiot. FireFox is full of bugs, just wait another year..better hope it doesn't get too popular, or you'll see a barrage of security attacks on it just like MS has faced.

You're both idiots, haven't you ever heard of Squeegee! It's only the best web browser available and is as secure as IE. Get with the program and download it now!

I use FireFox full time - if I need to use IE to view a site, there's a plugin for FireFox that allows me to open a tab using the IE engine. In fact, with this plugin, a user can already use IE with Tab Browsing, which is probably the only improvement for IE worth getting it for.

If you want to talk about bugs, IE 7 is probably full of them. FireFox is much more stable, but yes - once more people use FireFox, more and more viruses will be made to destabilize it. That's just the way the game is played.

There's no need to call names guys...
Here's the deal:
Use IE for: Windows Updates
Use other browsers (best Firefox) for: Everything else.

Tell Microsoft to get its act together.

Maxthon is just a wrapper for IE. Same with Avant browser, etc. Nice features, but still wrapped around Microcrapware.

Opera sux, Safari sux, yadda, yadda.

Firefox pwns joo 4ll. Get IE tab, and only use IE for windows update.

End of story. :)

If xfactr.com had a web browser then it would easily be the best.
Too bad they don't.

all you lot sayng firefoz will become unstable when more people use it are wrong.
the only reason ie is so unsafe etc is because microsoft left it for ages without an updat which gave hackers plent of time to crack it open.
however firefox is being continuously updated with all the latest tricks so its always going to be difficult to hack it open!!

Waste of frickin' timeApr 25th, 2006 - 21:58:38

Firefox is vastly superior in pretty much every possible way. I wish MS would give up on browsers, media players, and the like and instead devote themselves to making a core operating system that is both useful and stable, without a bunch of useless feature creep. Half of the stuff that comes stock with Windows nowadays sits unused on my computer.

Trust me, between firefox (version 2, which i haven't used because it's still being devloped) and internet explorer (version 7) i think firefox just edges it slightly at this moment in time evem with version 1.6 i think it's currently at, how ever, i've tried beta releases of internet explorer 7 and it looks promising, but don't know weather it looks as promising as firefox 2..... we'll have to wait and see

1. Safari doesn't suck... IMO it and Camino are the two browsers to be using on OS X, with Firefox coming in at a not-too-distant third.

2. Firefox will never have even half as many problems as IE because
a. it is not bloatware
b. it is open source - when an exploit is detected, the person who discovers it usually reports it to the Mozilla team rather than use it maliciously. In addition, open source groups tend to work more quickly to release security updates.
c. it is not a microsoft product
d. it does not ship with Windows, and so it will probably never have as large of a usership as a program that does, as long as Windows remains the dominant OS. This means that an exploit that only targets Firefox would end up effecting a dramatically lower percentage of users.

Who Cares?Apr 26th, 2006 - 00:40:03

Oh boy, fanboy battles. As long as you're not stupid and you have decent anti-virus protection, run any browser you want. Most of the Firefox fanboys simply hopped on the bandwagon, and when you ask why they think it's safer, they'll mumble something about ActiveX controls and walk away.

All of you are idiots.
IE and Firefox are owned by the same company, whether you use IE or Firefox, Bill gates will be spying you idiots.

Internet Explorer is only now catching up with what Firefox has been doing for some time. I wouldn't go back to using IE if they paid me. The only reason to ever use Internet Explorer is to go to www.mozilla.com and download a real browser.
