Tax scofflaw Wesley Snipes blames race for his prosecution

According to the Smoking Gun, actor Wesley Snipes contends his race is the factor that led to his felony tax avoidance case, despite the fact he didn’t file his taxes for six years.

Snipes is facing a trial in a Byzantine tax avoidance scheme, Snipes was dealt an eight-count indictment last October, and now Snipes claims that he is “the victim of selective prosecution.”

Apparently the two white codefendants, Douglas Rosile and Eddie Kahn, both men involved with advising Snipes on tax matters, have also not been charged with failure to file tax returns, though investigators claim they too were in arrears with their own returns.

The Smoking Gun has the entire Snipes legal complaint that contends the “Blade” star was socked with six felonies for failing to file between 1999-2004, and that the half-dozen counts were “impermissibly brought on the basis of Mr. Snipes’ race” and should be “dismissed based on selective prosecution.”
