Sturgill Simpson cooks with gas: ‘High Top Mountain’ release, tour dates announced

If there is one artist you NEED to catch this summer, it’s Nashville’s Sturgill Simpson, who blends old timey licks with edgy lyrics in a stripped down pure American country sound that will rock your world.

Sturgill Simpson got the music bug early on but fought it like heck through years of well-paying but unsatisfying day jobs before finally moving to Nashville and committing to the honky tonk dream.

Now, with momentum building for his June 11 debut, the past month has seen Simpson opening shows for Dwight Yoakam, Junior Brown, taping an interview for XM/Sirius’s iconic Outlaw Country channel, playing his first LA and NYC shows and pinching himself every step of the way the way; “It’s a bit overwhelming to say the least,” he says.

Wednesday, June 12, provides another landmark for Simpson.  He’s set to celebrate his album release with an anticipated peel-the-paint-off-the-walls set at Nashville’s legendary Station Inn. “I think that room is every bit as much a part of the city’s soul as other historic landmarks. The first time I lived in Nashville, in 2005, I was so down that I didn’t get out much except for the free bluegrass jam there every Sunday night. Guitars, Cadillacs, hillbilly music, and The Station Inn kept me hanging on,” declares Simpson.

Simpson will be at the famous Station Inn in Nashville on June 12 to celebrate his debut EP, “High Top Mountain.”
