Buffon is declared FIFA best goalkeeper

Berlin - Italy's Gianluca Buffon was declared FIFA best goalkeeper of the 2006 World Cup Sunday. The FIFA technical study group made the announcement after the Italian penalty shootout victory over France in Sunday's final. Buffon succeeds Germany's Oliver Kahn and France's Fabien Barthez, who were the FIFA tournament-best goalkeepers in 2002 and 1998 respectively. © 2006 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur
